Photo by Robert Kelly.[/caption][player_tooltip player_id="223397" first="Kaylee" last="McLain"], 5’5", CG, Leavenworth, 2022 -- McLain showed quick enough hands and feet to defend well with energy in the half court.
[player_tooltip player_id="93981" first="Sania" last="Copeland"], 5’7", CG, Olathe North, 2022 -- Copeland has good speed and athleticism in transition as well as downtown range on her three point shot. She can hit the perimeter shot quickly off the catch. Copeland showed the ability and perseverance with the ball to get around some of the strongest players in attendance.
[player_tooltip player_id="125018" first="Chais" last="Chickaway"], 5’3", SG, Lawrence, 2022 -- Chickaway showed solid handles and understanding of game flow in the half court. That understanding led to patience to let teammates get open and to slip inside of defenders for offensive rebounds from the weak side. An extra step of step of speed and quickness will help her create more often.
[player_tooltip player_id="223386" first="Hayley" last="Numrich"], 5’4", CG, Blue Valley Northwest, 2022 -- Numrich’s overall quickness and activeness as a defender stood out. She has a solid build and played physically. Numrich has solid transition speed.
Allana Moore, 5’6", W, Olathe West, 2022 -- Moore moves her feet well one-on-one but an extra step of quickness will make her more difficult to get around. Already her stature and strength disrupts handlers. A great moment was ripping the ball out of the hands of a transition handler.
[player_tooltip player_id="23467" first="Aubrie" last="Kierscht"], 5’7", PG, Salina Central, 2022 -- Kierscht made the all-Expo team. She showed off her strong motor, ability to score and create, and gameness to aggressively defend point guards to post players.
[player_tooltip player_id="156314" first="Riley" last="Bruggeman"], 5’8", PG, St. James Academy, 2023 -- If you think of a player who is active and present in one game but disappears the next, Bruggeman will not be one of them. Bruggeman did appear to struggle with the speed of the game and appeared inexperienced. Well, she readily admitted she actually found herself playing in the post - something she said she had not done before. Bruggeman hustled, ran well, defended, showed a terrific change of pace crossover to get to the basket, hit post players where the wanted the ball, and hit the three.
Kamyra Barber, 5’7", SG, Maize, 2025 -- Free throw, top of the key defended. Able to pivot, beat defense, score over help on lay-up on left hand layup off glass. Solid build. Average handles. Moves well without the ball and looks to flash to open spots inside.
[player_tooltip player_id="207150" first="Rory" last="Conboy"], 6’0", PF, Lindberg (MO), 2024 -- The long, strong, and well built Conboy has great hands and can go up quickly off the catch. She runs well and hustles in transition even when opposing teams are on the break off a turnover. Fills lanes well in transition.
[player_tooltip player_id="123516" first="Julia" last="Elsener"], 5’10", PF, St. Thomas Aquinas, 2021 -- Elsener used her size well to compete and box out inside.
