Rankings Update- ’21 Newcomers Part 2

As we continue to look at the 2021 players from around Ohio selected to the latest PGH rankings update, today I will look at five players from my region of the Buckeye state who have made their debut in the latest ranking on the Watch List. The season is set to begin next Friday, and these are some of the players who look to excel on the court this season. <span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="211752" first="Grace" last="Forrest"], 5-8 SG, Mechanicsburg</span></strong></span> With the graduation of Ohio Wesleyan freshman Kasey Schipfer, Grace will see her scoring and output increase this season, as she looks to lead the Indians to another solid season. She is an excellent skilled guard who can score from beyond the arc consistently and open up the inside game for the Indians. She has a good midrange shot, outstanding handles to run the offense and is an outstanding passer who can set up the offense. Loves to play uptempo and can score on the break. Excellent hands and solid on-ball defender. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="211753" first="Megan" last="Leraas"], 5-10 SG, Dayton Carroll</span></strong></span> Her stock went up this summer as she was a key scoring guard for the Team Ohio club. Played for John Coffee’s squad, and has great size along with a very strong perimeter game. Moves well and can get into position to score. Good rebounder and can defend multiple positions. Megan committed to Wittenberg for first-year Tigers coach Brian Neal, and she will be a huge pickup for the traditionally solid program. <span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="211754" first="Lovie" last="Malone"], 5-8 G, Huber Heights Wayne</span></strong></span> Her best game is ahead of her. She gets better every year, and I look for her numbers and production to skyrocket this year. Plays in a system that benefits her game with her strong ability to move north-south in transition. A difference maker on the court, Lovie looks to her smart court sense and great athleticism to finish out her career with a great season. <strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="211755" first="Abbigail" last="Peterson"], 5-8 G, Springfield Catholic Central</span></strong> One thing I can say about Abbi is her desire to become the best player she can. Always in the gym getting better, or working on her fitness and strength. Coaches kid who runs the offense well, can score from the midrange and has very good quickness to slash to the rim. Strong physical guard able to defend and lock down her opponent. Can fly in transition and loves to play north-south. Committed to Arkansas Monticello. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong><span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="211756" first="Lexi" last="Zabloudil"], 5-7 PG, London</span></strong></span> One of the best kept secrets, but Lexi has the skills to play at the next level. Also a volleyball prospect. On the basketball court, I saw her late last season and loved the way she ran the show for her team. Strong, athletic and smart, Lexi can score from anywhere on the floor. Good shot, able to score at the rim. Great handles with both hands and a smart basketball IQ.
