Below is a list of players who are turning heads with their improvement and consistency behind the arc. Keep an eye on these already stand out athletes as they continue to add confidence and points from deep.
Megan Gruse
Gruse is a bright young talent that has so much upside. She is completely dominant on the floor and was each time she stepped on the court during the Fall Exclusive. She scored at each level but showed so much improvement from the perimeter. She showed an ability to score at multiple spots on the floor and she combined that with a max effort to fill the box score. She has great handles and fundamentals on the court. I was impressed by her ability to put together a full consistent dominant game.
Karissa Smith Karissa Smith 5'9" | SG Appleton North | 2023 State WI
A solid skilled and talented prospect, Smith finished at multiple levels, she attacked the glass and she stood out with consistency in delivering some quality floor performances game in and game out. She is a knock down shooter who is smooth and patient before the release. She can create for herself but is most consistent off the pass. She also did well hitting the mid range jumpers while also creating and rebounding as well. Her activating was solid as was her overall floor production.
Ashlyn Yow Ashlyn Yow 5'6" | PG Waukesha West | 2022 State WI
One of the top pure perimeter shooting marksmen in her class, Yow was exceptional in flashes and looked the part of an excellent young prospect on the rise. She can score at each level, she has advanced court awareness, and she’s an exceptional athlete and leader on the floor. She moves well without the ball and knows how to get herself open. Her shot is smooth and her ability to be a sniper in transition makes her very tough to stop.
Shiauna Nixon Boyd
Nixon Boyd had a super impressive Fall Exclusive. She was a walking bucket from the guard position. The explosive and athletic guard did an outstanding job of utilizing spin moves. Nixon Boyd showed off outstanding touch once she got in the paint, and shot the ball even better from the perimeter. She is confident knocking it down with a defender in her face. She showed some surprising court vision and passing that coaches should keep an eye on- if Nixon Boyd adds playmaking to her bag of talents she will be a very difficult player to stop.
Sophie Hafeman Sophie Hafeman 6'0" | PF De Pere | 2024 WI
A talented athletic guard with toughness, handles, instincts, and feel, Hafeman attacks the rim off the bounce and can finish through traffic. A solid guard in transition, Hafeman has also shown an ability to knock down the perimeter shot in multiple fashions. She is consistent off the dribble, the catch and in transition play. Her mechanics are there so I’d look for Hafeman to be a knock down shooter for her high school squad. She is starting to stretch her legs so to speed and her ability to impact the game on both ends is becoming very noticeable as well.
