The Top 250 Expo was a huge success full of so many talented athletes. Each prospect brought something different to the floor and it was exciting to see how elite Wisconsin girls basketball is. Take a look at some of the breakdowns after watching each girl compete on Sunday.
Paige Lambe Paige Lambe 6'2" | PF Verona | 2023 State WI | Verona | 6’1
Lambe stood out for her versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends. She utilizes her size so well to create space on offense and finish strong at the rim. She has great handles for her size and a solid motor. She gets up and down the floor well and can contribute big minutes for any squad. Defensively Lambe is a rebounding machine and is relentless chasing loose boards. She doesn’t gamble much on blocked shots yet but has a high ceiling for it due to her athleticism and high IQ.
Olivia Peterson | Appleton West | 5’4
Peterson showed this weekend that she is a pure athlete with impeccable intensite and explosion on the court. She is quick off and on the ball, and she utilizes her teammates better than most I’ve seen at her size. She uses her handles to create space and will knock down the perimeter shot if she gets room. She also does well creating space then attacking and pulling up or dishing to her post below. She brings high energy to the floor and really speeds up the offense by constantly pushing in transition play.
Samantha Origel | Burlington Central | 5’8
Origel stood out during the Top 250 Expo for her hard work on both ends of the floor and intensity each minute. She was truly relentless each match up. She found ways to contribute that were super exciting to watch. Her handles are advanced and she handles pressure extremely well. She plays with a quick pull up jumper and can knock down the perimeter shot consistently. She showed great upside for going downhill and finishing strong against contact in the lane.
Antionique Auston Antionique Auston 5'8" | CG Sun Prarie | 2023 State WI | Sun Prairie | 5’6
Auston is such a talented prospect who has a scorers mentality. She has impressive handles and ability to remain calm and steady when attacking the basket. Auston plays with immense confidence and swag on the floor. She can change direction and beat her opponent to the spot for a consistent knock down jumper. She pulls up from deep and has range far beyond the arc. Not only is she a scoring machine but she is a floor general as well. Her court vision and ability to find her open teammates is crazy impressive. She’s a thread needle like passer who is known for making the highlight reel type pass.
Annalise Pietrzyk | Providence Catholic | 5’8
Pietrzyk is an explosive guard that can put up big numbers at any moment. She has great energy on the floor and seems to enjoy getting her teammates involved. She was very comfortable with the ball in her hands at the Top 250 Expo. She displayed multiple crafty finish moves. She has a pull up jumper in the midrange that was super successful. Her handles are strong and she’s great at pounding the ball. She also showed she has great vision in the open court and makes impressie long outlet passes.
Karissa Smith Karissa Smith 5'9" | SG Appleton North | 2023 State WI | Appleton North | 5’7
Smith is a very balanced player that brings great tempo and energy to the game. She understands the flow and seemed to be at all the right spots at the right time during the Top 250 Expo. Her shot form is smooth and consistent. Her footwork into her shot is what stands out, she’s composed and she utilizes her handles to create space. She is not someone that is going to wow the audience with athleticism, but she is still crafty enough to score in the midrange and on the perimeter. She works well in a half-court system because of her ability to play her role. She is very much a player that benefits from running a set offense, however she can create her own shot if she needs to.
