Many basketball players attend showcase events with a goal of playing college basketball. Raising their stock as a prospect is on the minds of many of the athletes in attendance. There were a lot of players that did just that on Sunday at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250. Here are some stock risers that I saw at the event:
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138319" first="Mackenzie" last="Egger"] (2021, 5-11, G, Mt. Pleasant)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209265" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/24_Mackenzie-EggerPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Egger was really able to do it all at the showcase. She’s a dynamic athlete and a tough stop on the offensive end.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189307" first="Isabel" last="Lindo"] (2023, 5-8, G, Williamston)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209249" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/7_Isabel-LindoPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Lindo has a nice future ahead of her in high school basketball. She has a nice looking jumper with range and is steady with the ball.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138410" first="Ndidiamaka" last="Ndukwe"] (2021, 5-11, F, Summit Academy)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209334" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/97_Ndidiamaka-NdukwePrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Ndukwe deserves to play college basketball. She find her way in the lane off the dribble and utilizes a very impressive mid range game.
<strong>Grace Rakoksky (2024, 5-3, G, Grandville)</strong>
Rakoksky put herself on the prospect map with a solid day at the Top 250. She was able to influence the game at both ends.
<strong>Brook Simpson (2024, G/F, Belding)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209253" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/11_Brook-SimpsonPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Simpson has the potential to be an elite prospect in the class of 2024. She looked like she could play the 1-4 effectively at the expo.
<strong>DeAndrea Smith (2023, 5-7, G, Flint Carman-Ainsworth)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209296" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/59_DeAndrea-SmithPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Quite simply, Smith is underrated. She’s a 3 level scorer that can play on or off the ball. Smith has good hip movement that kept defenders guessing.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="177292" first="Makaiya" last="Thomas"] (2021, 5-6, G, Saginaw Arts & Sciences)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209356" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/Makaiya-Thomas-2PrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Thomas is a quick athlete that can play a fast game. She gets up and down the court on both ends. Thomas is a player that college coaches should keep an eye on this season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="28016" first="Kayiona" last="Willis"] (2021, 5-5, G, Southfield A & T)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209285" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/47_Kayiona-WillisPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Willis has improved a lot in the last calendar year. Her aggressive style of play and superb ball handling shown on Sunday should have college coaches coming.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178871" first="Erin" last="Young"] (2022, 5-10, F, Livonia Franklin)</strong>
<img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-209331" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/10/92_Erin-YoungPrepHoops-2-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" />
Admittedly, I hadn’t seen Young play as much as I’d have liked in the past. I came away very impressed. She’s a versatile player that can defend all over the court.
