Ray Kimball and I joined forces to offer the first-ever Headliners Invitational Showcase back in November of 2023. After taking a sabbatical in 2024, our conviction became undeniably strong that the Headliners needed to return and become a staple showcase in the community. The inspiration for the Headliners Invitational Showcase came after observing elite camps and prospect camps across the state. There were pieces of traditional showcase formats (games/scrimmaging), college elite camps, and prospect camps that I liked, but something was missing from the equation. The ideal format became apparent as I reflected upon my goal for joining Prep Girls Hoops in the first place: to identify and help girls basketball prospects be recruited by college coaches.

An event where girls would have the opportunity to: 1) Work with college coaches who want to recruit them, 2) Be evaluated by college coaches who fit their level of ability, and 3) Receive comprehensive media coverage by Prep Girls Hoops scouts, was clearly needed for prospects in the community. Every prospect is unique, and the traditional showcase format may not be the best fit for everyone. Those girls need opportunities to demonstrate their skills through small-sided games and drills in front of college coaches--not just games. That's exactly why drills emphasizing different skill areas, 3v3, and 5v5 games were all included at the Headliners Invitational. The format was chosen to set prospects up for success in front of the college coaches. Every prospect had a reversible jersey with a number that corresponded to the information in the college coaches' event packets. Every college program in the state received an invitation to this event. Nearly 20 colleges pre-registered to recruit at the showcase, and the event included time for prospects to speak with college coaches after their sessions. Every girl had their picture taken by a PGH scout and will be included in a post-event write-up that highlights their strengths.

Additionally, there were no middle school showcases offered in the state at the time, so it became clear that we had a great opportunity to provide an exceptional first experience for middle schoolers. Since college coaches are recruiting/evaluating high schoolers and our PGH coverage prioritizes high school prospects during their AAU and high school seasons, having a middle school session became very important. Middle schoolers not only worked with college coaches, but also had the opportunity to train with former Evergreen State women's basketball collegiate player Angela Sikora (Adrian College Assistant Coach). Every middle schooler is on the Prep Girls Hoops radar ahead of their high school career and will be promoted on our platform. By experiencing a showcase ahead of their freshman year, these middle schoolers will be better prepared for high-stakes environments in front of college coaches in the future.

My coverage focused primarily on Team Wings, Team Liberty, and Team Fever during the high school session. Here are evaluations for high schoolers representing the Fever during session one at the [program_tooltip program_id='923712' first='Prepare' last='2 Win Basketball'] Headliners Invitational!

Lilliane excelled in the 3v3 segment, finishing a baseline drive with a layup and draining a smooth wing three off the hop. In drills, Lilliane was one of the most consistent three-point shooters, knocking down multiple shots from beyond the arc, while maintaining a balanced stance. She continued to stand out during games with Team Fever. Her lateral dribbles created space to shoot, pass, or drive. Lilliane attacked hard downhill, then side-stepped the final defender to cause a foul. She caught passes on the perimeter, ready to shoot, and buried a smooth triple from the wing.

Ryenn was the top-ranked forward prospect coming into the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase, and she proved it on the court with Team Fever. Ryenn owned the paint, rebounding and finishing inside at will. Her length, mobility, footwork, and skill set her apart. Ryenn caught an entry pass with soft hands in the low post, spun, and converted the contested layup with ease. She maneuvered into position, secured several offensive rebounds, and scored putbacks. Ryenn attacked downhill off the dribble, switched hands in the lane, and kicked the ball out to open shooters. She closed out hard to block a shot on the perimeter and deflected passes. Ryenn cut backdoor to score a layup off two feet and changed directions with a spin dribble to drive by for a layup, and showed her outside range by drilling a straightaway three. Her dominant performance earned All-Showcase First Team recognition.

Macey played up with the high schoolers and fit right in at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase. She showed good footwork during drills, jump stops, and step-through pivots. Macey made smart flex cuts across the lane and shot the ball with good form from beyond the arc in the games. She crashed the glass to score a putback, caught an entry pass with soft hands, pivoted, and scored the layup. Macey had a solid day for Team Fever and is going to make an immediate impact at the high school level.

Brinley had a good day at the P2W Headliners Showcase in October and had another solid outing on Sunday for Team Fever. She lulled the defense to sleep with her patient lateral dribbles, surveyed the scene, then accelerated down the open lane to the rim for a layup. Brinley crashed the glass to secure offensive rebounds and clamped down on the ball to tie it up on defense. She used a quick rip move, shifted into high gear, beat her defender off the dribble down the baseline, and finished strong off two feet.

Delaney made a great first impression at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase with Team Fever. One of her highlight plays happened when she snatched a defensive rebound, turned on the jets, pushed the ball up the court using both hands, drove through a defender's chest with a strong shoulder, and finished with her left hand at the rim. Delaney corralled ball-handlers on the perimeter with her quick feet, penetrated the defense with her dribble, and drove to the rim with a fearless determination.

Remmi thrives in this environment. She was an All-Showcase First Team selection at the P2W Headliners Invitational in October, and she repeated that performance on Sunday. Remmi has a relentless motor and energy that few can match on the court. She anticipated a drive, quickly shuffled to cut it off, and tied up the ball. Remmi was on the floor hustling for 50/50 balls and constantly flying in from the perimeter to secure offensive rebounds. She dribbled into a smooth wing three after grabbing an offensive board and dished out multiple assists off dribble penetration. Remmi changed lanes with a sudden crossover, hit the gas, and drove by her defender for a full-speed layup. She penetrated off the dribble to score a strong and-one through contact and drove fearlessly to the rim, causing many fouls. Remmi turned in an impressive two-way performance for Team Fever.

Sophie had a very productive day for Team Fever at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase. She moved to open space, optimized her length to contest shots, and rebounded the ball effectively.

Janiyah is an athletic guard I was excited to see for the first time in person at the P2W Headliners Invitational Showcase. She showed her next-level potential and had a solid day for Team Fever. Janiyah kept her eyes up in transition, pushed the ball up the court with both hands, and buried a smooth pull-up jumper from the wing. She weaved through defenders off the dribble to get to the rim and chased down offensive rebounds. Janiyah wasn't afraid to shoot, and her ability to score at all three levels kept defenders on their heels.
