Lots of highlights from players on both teams in two really hard-fought games, but these two unsigned seniors are looking to play in college and showing everyone why they are able to do so! The Mavs played the Baystate Jaguars Johnson team in game one and suffered a 48-45 loss before bouncing back in game two squeaking out a 45-42 win over a talented Bay State Jags Mosely lead squad.
Erin Quaile Erin Quaile 5'5" | PG Franklin | 2021 State MA : started out right where she left off last season for her undefeated co-D1 champion Franklin Panther team. She handled all point guard duties while covering the most dynamic offensive players on the opposing team, not only limiting their scores but even total shot attempts. In addition she led the team in scoring while hitting on a high percentage of 3’s, pull-ups, mid-range jumpers and finishes on the break. Erin continues to show an incredible motor on both ends of the floor, providing great looks for teammates in both half court offense and on the break. As always, automatic at the free throw line late in games and demonstrated that ability in the end of game two to help seal the win for her team.
Eryn Rice Eryn Rice 5'7" | SG Millis | 2021 State MA : is a dynamic wing player with an uncanny ability to finish with both hands at the basket. She hit a number of 3 pointers over the weekend and has added a nice mid-range pull-up jumper to her already polished offensive game. The Millis High School senior is no stranger to scoring as she is closing in on 1,000 points for her varsity career and is likely to surpass that mark given the high school season is played this winter. Erin plays much longer than her 5’7” height with a tremendous wingspan and uncanny timing on blocking shots and jumping passing lanes on defense. Tremendous end line to end line speed which results in multiple fast break opportunities. Also, able to rebound in traffic against bigger players and loves to attack the offensive glass for easy second chance points.
Both Eryn and Erin have been playing well for their High School teams for many years now. Eryn was a Varsity player for Millis since her freshman year, while Eryn won back to back Defensive player of the Year awards for her Franklin team as a sophomore and again as a Junior. Given a normal year these girls would both have a long list of college coaches chasing them gym to gym as they both have the ability to not only stand out in High School Games but add value to a college roster as well!
