Dunbar, Thurgood Marshall, Meadowdale, Belmont, Ponitz and Stivers will all be in a race for the top spot, and many of them have players who should excel on the court this season.(pictured above L to R: Briyanna Combs, Dunbar; Lachell Bennett, Meadowdale; Makaila Willams, Thurgood; Morganne Postell Morganne Postell 5'7" | PG Dayton Thurgood Marshall | 2024 State OH l, Thurgood; Samara Gibson, Thurgood, Zhieyah Rolack Zhieyah Rolack 5'11" | SF DECA | 2024 State OH , Meadwodale)
Here is a list of top players to watch this season:
Morganne Postell Morganne Postell 5'7" | PG Dayton Thurgood Marshall | 2024 State OH (2024, Thurgood)
Everything will run through her offensively for Thurgood this season. She is a very talented freshman who was part of the Blue Star 30 this summer and she is highly anticipated by the Marshall coaching staff. Morganne has a very good basketball IQ and is a complete player both offensively and defensively. On the offensive side of the ball, she can do damage both inside or outside and is very explosive to get to the rim. She also can hit the pull-up jumper from midrange and will be a player with good potential for the next level.
Makayla Williams (2024, Thurgood)
As you can tell, youth will be served this season at Thurgood Marshall as three of the top players in the league will be newcomers at TM. Makayla is a solid athletic win with long arms who can knock it down from everywhere. As her game grows, she will become a legit next-level prospect.
Jordan Pettigrew (2022, Ponitz)
As the old saying goes, Jordan is small but mighty. Quick guard and very basketball savvy. Can get to the rim and is a good defender for her size. Does a good job fading in the passing lane. Needs a consistent perimeter game to complete the package. Tough hard-nosed with a good basketball IQ.
Zhieyah Rolack Zhieyah Rolack 5'11" | SF DECA | 2024 State OH (2024, Meadowdale)
I believe this kid could be special. At 5’9 she can play both inside or outside and has excellent body control for a freshman. She is a quick athletic heady player who will be effective in any style of offense.
Samaria Gibson (2024, Thurgood)
The third freshman who should produce this year for Marshall is Samaria, who is a solid defensive prospect. She will defend the best opposing offensive player and shut them down. She can get to the rim and is tough to defend. A hard worker and an excellent student.
Briyanna Combs (2022, Dunbar)
Great all around player who can get you a double-double every night. She knows how to utilize her mismatches both in the paint or on the perimeter. She also handles the ball well enough to run her offense. Moves well without the ball and gets in position to score from beyond the arc. Solid on the boards and can defend.
A’mauria Moore (2021, Dunbar)
Long guard who loves to play north-south in transition. Her speed with the ball leads to downhill attacking. She plays great on-ball defense and understands the passing lanes on the press and help side defense which leads to transition advantage for her team. Long wingspan and rebounds well for a guard.
