They are still technically back-to-back state champions after last year’s state tournament was cancelled. Minster returns their dynamic backcourt of [player_tooltip player_id="32556" first="Ivy" last="Wolf"] (5-9 2021) and Janae Hoying (5-8 2021), both playing at the next level. The player to watch show vast improvement this year is [player_tooltip player_id="215424" first="Ella" last="Mescher"], a 6-foot junior who has come into her own in the post and will be a factor for the Wildcats this season.
Gone are the twin towers from Fort Recovery, as [player_tooltip player_id="32540" first="Val" last="Muhlenkamp"] (Findlay) and [player_tooltip player_id="32544" first="Olivia" last="Patch"] (Hillsdale) are now playing at the next level. The Indians will be a much different look this season as they are led by their guards Ali Vaughn who is headed to Huntington, and Kierra Wendel, who is a senior guard undecided about her college. Both are good floor leaders and will be counted on this season to add to their scoring punch.
What a future for Coldwater 6-3 sophomore post [player_tooltip player_id="214492" first="Riley" last="Rismiller"], who has become one of the most sought-after sophomore posts in Ohio. She is a player who can control the paint and handle the game defensively by blocking or altering shots. Good scorer with a variety of way to contribute.
One team who lost a lot of their senior firepower from last season was Versailles, as they look to build a new identity this season. One thing is for sure, don’t ever count the Tigers out of any race. Year in and year out, they improve as the season goes on and as every coach will tell you, they don’t want to play them in February.
