It’s never easy trying to cover 2 gyms in one day. Prep Girls Hoops did the best they could in covering the action this weekend from Brookland-Cayce HS. Lets dive into the action with some of the 2021 class right here being played in the Main Gym and Aux Gym on Day 1. [caption id="attachment_230856" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="172490" first="Jasmine" last="Norman"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="172490" first="Jasmine" last="Norman"] (2021) - Marlboro County HS (Bennettsville) Norman is a offensive minded player that’s for sure. Norman finished the opening day with 19 points in a tight win over Mauldin HS. Norman was able to connect on some three pointers from downtown to secure the victory for the Lady Bulldogs. Norman must get a bit more active on the defensive end of the floor at times. [player_tooltip player_id="198016" first="Ashia" last="Austin"] (2021) - Mauldin HS (pictured on the front) Austin really can explode to the basket with her quickness in the open floor. Austin a point guard has a great nose for ball and is always looking to make a play. Austin scored 15 points in the opener vs Marlboro County HS. Austin has the ability to change gears and speeds while attacking the cup. [caption id="attachment_231209" align="alignnone" width="300"] [player_tooltip player_id="231031" first="Kayla" last="Washington"][/caption] [player_tooltip player_id="231031" first="Kayla" last="Washington"] (2021) - Wilson HS (Florence) Washington will have to step up her game this season with the graduation of [player_tooltip player_id="124043" first="Loyal" last="McQueen"] (Georgia Tech). Washington was able to shake and bake to the cup and knockdown some mid-range jumpers today. Washington helped the Tigers a last minute replacement with a win it’s opener over Lamar HS. [player_tooltip player_id="172180" first="Kiana" last="Lee"] (2021) - North Augusta HS Lee was great today on her way to 23 points and a victory over Nation Ford HS. Lee a Francis Marion University (NCAA D2) signee for next year was able to get the ball to the basket all day long. Lee was very efficient around the cup in scoring and finding teammates for some open looks. [player_tooltip player_id="185215" first="A’Nyia" last="Gates"] (2021) - Lamar HS Gates showed some flashes at times today but was straddled in foul trouble for the Silver Foxes. Gates runs the floor very well and plays the game hard. Gates is still a RAW talent and tends to be still learning the game a bit.
