Week two is in the books around Ohio, and I spent the week at games around the Dayton area again, catching four different games and eight teams that showcased a lot of good talent, and solid rising players.
This week, I will focus more on some games in Northwest Ohio (COVID permitting) and you can read about some of those top players that I see in next week’s review. But this week, a look at some of the players who stood out to me in the games I saw.
Today a look at six key shooters who stood out, while the rest of the week I will look at some new names to watch, unsigned seniors and 5 Attention Grabbers.
Games attended last week included Troy @ Stebbins, Miamisburg @ Valley View, Fairborn @ Piqua and Butler @ Tippecanoe.
<span style="font-size: 18pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong>Week 2 Top Shooters</strong></span>
These are all familiar names to Dayton area basketball fans, and all of them showed their prolific shooting ability in their games last week.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="32622" first="Macie" last="Taylor"], 5-8 2022, Troy</span></strong>
As usual, Macie showcased her ability to score from the perimeter with deep range and a quick shot. She is not afraid to let it fly and has a quick release over the defense. Leave her open and it’s lights out.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="215423" first="Anna" last="Long"], 5-9 2022, Miamisburg</span></strong>
She can do it all, and showed her high level skills last week in a game at Valley View. She has nice moves to the rim and good body control. Has the ability to go 1v1 and score on her defender and is a vocal leader. She is quick and explosive, but she also has the ability to score from beyond the arc. <em>(pictured above)</em>
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">Abby Dickson, 5-3 2021, Valley View</span></strong>
She is an unsigned senior but won’t appear in that feature this week. For now, she is showcased as someone who has the ability to score from the perimeter. She showed a few times that you had better guard her tight. True she is a pure PG but can also score double figures.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="93536" first="Sami" last="Bardonaro"], 5-8 2023, Vandalia Butler</span></strong>
Her game is much improved, and showed her skills against a very good defensive Tippecanoe team on Saturday. She hit several three’s, can shoot from deep beyond the arc and is a zone buster. Can do much more than just shoot, can also get to the rim and the line. But she is deadly from everywhere on the court.
<span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="32608" first="Claire" last="Henson"], 5-11 2022, Valley View</span></strong></span>
One of the most underrated juniors in Ohio, and she is very skilled with a lot of options to help her team. Very smooth on the court, can run the floor and finish. She showed her perimeter game against Miamisburg. She just keeps getting better.
<span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Jodee Austin, 5-3 2021, Fairborn</span></strong></span>
She just committed to Sienna Heights, and Jodee is looking to put together her best season yet during her senior season. She is a true point guard with the ability to put points on the board. Hard nosed defender, floor general and offensively, can score from the perimeter. Can get her shot off quickly and effectively.
