Winter high school sports won’t have any games until 2021. Basketball, fencing and bowling will now start practices on Jan. 11, games on Jan. 26 and the postseason will end on March 6.
Ice hockey will begin before 2021 with practices starting on Dec. 14 and games beginning on Jan. 4. The ice hockey postseason ends on Feb. 17.
Swimming and winter track and field will begin practices on Feb. 1 and competition starts on Feb. 16. The postseason will end on March 27.
The biggest difference to the winter season will be for wrestling. Wrestling will join gymnastics and girls volleyball in the spring with a March 1 start. Competition begins March 16 and ends on April 24. There is still no word on whether an individual wrestling state tournament, usually held in Atlantic City, will take place.
There will be no NJSIAA-sponsored postseason for basketball and ice hockey. Each league and conference may hold some sort of postseason play.
