Grassroots Superlatives: 2021 Best Passers
Superlatives for the best of the best that I saw this offseason.
5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="186283" first="Dasha" last="Cannon"] – EOTO Black – White County
A big guard that can handle pressure, Cannon has the strength to fend off defenders when instructing the offense in the half court. She makes crisp passes off the dribble, creating clean looks for her teammates. Cannon is a steady stat sheet stuffer that also helps out scoring and on the glass.
5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"] – FBC BounceNation Jay 2021 – Langston Hughes<img class="wp-image-186588 size-thumbnail alignright" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2020/07/IMG_6440-e1594251925983-150x150.jpg" alt="[player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"]" width="150" height="150" />
[player_tooltip player_id="186280" first="Autumn" last="Phillips"] is a quick and shifty playmaker. She’s got the confidence to riffle in passes that most guards can’t make. She keeps her head up when pushing the ball and has great court vision. Phillips has no problem balancing her playmaking with her scoring.
5-7 PG [player_tooltip player_id="118094" first="Kayla" last="McPherson"] – Team Elite – Madison County – UNC
Georgia’s most entertaining player pours in the points but also can make the highlight passes. McPherson is such an electric guard that she can see plays develop before anyone else on the court can. Her athleticism gets her to the rim at will and in doing so, she has countless opportunities to dish out to open shooters or drop off no-look passes to posts eager to score up close.
5-6 PG [player_tooltip player_id="204881" first="Kenley" last="Woods"] – FBC NextUp Legacy – Coahulla Creek
[player_tooltip player_id="204881" first="Kenley" last="Woods"] excels with her outlet passes on the run. She floats in passes on the move like a quarterback hitting a wide receiver down the sideline. She’s always looking to keep the pressure on defenses in transition. In the half court, Woods can sling in tough passes through traffic to cutters. Woods plays at her tempo and makes her teammates better.
