The event featured players from California, Utah, Nevada, and Washington. Quite a few players from Southern California were in attendance, and I was able to follow along through social media livestreaming.
Here’s a quick look at some additional top standouts from Southern California.
1. Lindsay Gould – Westlake 2024
Gould will be making her high school debut this season as a freshman. There are a couple of things that stand out about her. One is that she’s got a solid jump shot with range all the way out the three-point and a very quick release. Another is her court vision, She has a solid feel for the game and has good instincts as a playmaker. She sees the floor and looks to get teammates easy shots. A bit of a combo guard.
2. Elise Arnold Elise Arnold 5'10" | SF Palisades Charter | 2023 State CA – Palisades 2023
Elise is a player I’ve seen multiple times, and her improvement has been noticeable. She’s in the mold of a stretch-four type player. That three-point shot is something she’s clearly worked on to the point where she pretty much can’t be left open on the perimeter. She also has the ability to score in the paint as well. Solid defensive player around the rim too.
3. Alyssa Jackson – Westlake 2023
The number one thing that stands out to me about Jackson is her defensive play. She’s a lockdown defender on the wings. She moves her feet well, has quick hands, and is always aware of where the ball is on the floor. Off-ball she makes sure she stays with the player she’s guarding and doesn’t get caught ball-watching. She’s also a very good outside shooter. She can catch and shoot, or shoot off the dribble.
4. Taylor Arnold Taylor Arnold 5'10" | SF Palisades Charter | 2023 State CA – Palisades 2023
Taylor is another player I’ve seen multiple times, and what stands out to me now is her improved handle. She’s a big in most lineups, but she looks to be a little more comfortable with putting the ball on the floor and making plays like a wing. She’s comfortable in the paint too. She can establish position and she’s a good rebounder. She moves well without the ball.
