20-21 League Preview- Licking County League

Today we focus our attention on the Licking County League! The following schools represent this outstanding and rich tradition of basketball: Granville, Heath, Johnstown-Monroe, Johnstown- Northridge, Lakewood, Licking Heights, Licking Valley, Newark Catholic, Utica, and Watkins Memorial. Listed below are some of the top players to keep your eyes on! <em><strong>Granville:</strong></em> Granville has an outstanding and deep team, who play with constant pressure against opponents, and a fast paced attacking offense. This team could very likely go far come tournament time. Sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="160415" first="Ella" last="Wigal"]</strong> (HM All-Ohio), junior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="92516" first="Cate" last="Schieber"]</strong> (Special Mention All-Ohio), and seniors <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="32591" first="Lainie" last="Hilaman"]</strong> (1st Team LCL) and <strong>Ella Rogers</strong> (HM All-Ohio), are four core players who will lead this team. The sophomore class is strong with <strong>Wigal</strong>, <strong>Ella Schenider</strong> (PG), <strong>Ella Hoover</strong> and <strong>Ava Gossman</strong> (both will play guard and post). Granville has two promising freshman in guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="217317" first="Aliyah" last="Moore"]</strong> and post <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="217314" first="Harper" last="Annarino"]</strong> that will get time on Varsity. &nbsp; <em><strong>Heath:</strong></em> <strong>Cassidy Dupps- G, 5'5, 2021:</strong> Quick guard who is an outstanding outside shooter, makes smart decisions on transition, and attacks the basket. &nbsp; <em><strong>Northridge:</strong></em> <strong>Kenzie Hannahs- PG/SG, 2024</strong>: Can shoot the ball, hit the 3's <strong>Sydney Koker- 5'11, SF/SG/C, 2021: </strong>Long, athletic, can pick pockets and shoot. <strong>Lyndsey Stocks: 5'10, PF/ C, 2021:</strong> Takes care of the inside, can block shots, good shooter, plays with heart! &nbsp; <em><strong>Lakewood: </strong></em> <strong>Alexa Cummins 5'7, SG, 2021 </strong>Quick guard who plays very strong defense, can pick pockets, shoot the 3's and midrange. <strong>Elizabeth Qualls: 6'0, C, 2023 </strong>Her height and size provides strength inside. <strong>Ashley Poling: 5'10, PF, 2022  </strong>Strong, athletic, can rebound the ball &nbsp; <em><strong>Licking Heights:</strong></em> <strong>Trinity Jackson, So, 2.80gpa, 5’7 SG  </strong>She is the leading scorer for Licking Heights, where she’s had 19 and 16 points in 2 games. <strong>Hannah Byers- Senior 4.0gpa, 5”11 Post </strong> <strong>Madison Werling, Sr., 3.95gpa, 5’9 PG </strong> <strong>Kasheenah Lovinsky, Jr, 3.2gpa, 5’10 Post</strong> <strong>Mali Thornton, Fr, 3,25gpa, 5’7 PG</strong> &nbsp; <em><strong>Licking Valley: </strong></em> <strong>Alexa Thomas 5’6’’ SR. </strong>Is a great defender, offensively very good at attacking the rim who can also shoot outside. <strong>Katie Slater 5’9’’ SR </strong>a strong post who can play inside or out. Very aggressive going to the rim. <strong>Emilee Redfern 5’4’’ SR </strong>very good mid range and 3 point shooter. <strong>Kylee White 5’6’’ JR </strong>She is a very talented point guard with great ball skills and can pull up on the dribble and shoot especially mid range jumpers. &nbsp; <em><strong>Newark Catholic:</strong></em> <strong>Chloe Chard- Peloquin: 6'1, 2021: </strong>Long, athletic, has a high basketball IQ, does a great job denying passes inside, is a blocking threat, can shoot, very strong! <strong>Harlei Antritt- 6'0, 2021: </strong>strong outside shooter, she is a scorer! Great size, difficult to guard! <strong>Brooklyn Smith-</strong>  Can drain the 3's, can handle the ball well &nbsp; <em><strong>Utica:</strong></em> <strong>Shawna Blake-</strong> Strong guard, can shoot 3's, and penetrate/ hit the mid-range shots. &nbsp; <em><strong>Watkins Memorial:</strong></em> <strong>Jenna Lucas- 5'11, F, 2022: </strong>Can play inside or outside, Put backs are so strong, she's a handful to guard. Can take the ball coast to coast <strong>Alexia Gartner- 5'9, SG/PG, 2022: </strong>Aggressive athlete, plays well both inside and outside, solid defender. Can go left or right inside, Strong all-around player <strong>Kalleigh Rennie- 5'5, SG, 2023: </strong>Scrappy player, handles the ball very well, can hurt you with mid-range and 3's, and penetrate to the basket.
