Thoughts on the League
Fostoria returns a solid core of letterwinners back including Groves, Johnson and Mauer, along with Carmen Castro. They will be joined in the lineup by sophomore Garryanna Overton and they look to challenge in the NBC this season.
Lake looks to build off of last years late season success with a group of talented returning players. As they continue to improve every day, they look to stay healthy and challenge every night.
Eastwood returns eight letterwinners this season and expect to compete assuming the virus allows them to. Early in the season, they will have to figure out some roles and expect to play their best basketball at the end of the season. After Haas and Moenter, they look for the next tier of scoring. They are one of the deepest teams in the league, as they will play 10-12 players any given night.
Elmwood has very solid talent back including Thrash who entered the season 53 points shy of 1,000. She nearly got that in their opener scoring 42. They advanced to the district final last season with Thrash, a Division One prospect, leading the way. Bingham is their defensive stopper and will lock up with the top opposing scorer. Watch out for Anna Barber, who dropped 30 in their opener.
Woodmore returns three starters from a 17-6 team with Allen, Beam and Greta Bauder. Sophomore Macey Bauder and junior Sophie Blausey also will be in the starting lineup this season. A couple of players off the bench for Woodmore include junior Camryn Ivy and sophomore Alayna Hahn. They should compete at the top of the conference. Also, Allen should reach her 1,000th point this year (updated: Allen scored her 1,000th point on the evening this was published).
Big Games
Woodmore vs Eastwood – December 8
League Favorite
Lake was picked as the preseason favorite in the coaches poll with Woodmore a close second. Those two teams met last week and Lake picked up a 74-50 victory over Woodmore. Elmwood is another team with the talent and scoring to compete for a title. Eastwood has the talent to compete at the top.
