Below is a list of players who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these prospects have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the following conference’s.
Trailways- East: Central Wisconsin Christian, Dodgeland, Hustisford, Horicon, Lourdes Academy, Oakfield, Wayland Academy.
Trailways- South: Abundant Life/ St. Ambrose, Deerfield, Johnson Creek, Madison Country Day, Palmyra- Eagle, Parkview, Williams Bay.
Trailways- West: Cambria- Friesland, Fall River, Markesan, Montello, Pardeeville, Princeton/Green Lake, Randolph, Rio.
Adrianna Bader | Dodgeville | 5’9 Junior
The junior is leading the Trailways East conference in scoring so far this season. She is averaging 15 points per game. She’s a dominant post player who is very sound on the block. She has a range of finish moves and plays strong against taller players inside. She’s an incredible defender in the lane as well and can stand her own against almost every position on the floor. In a game against Waterloo, Bader finished with 20 points.
Lexi Swanson | Johnson Creek | 5’10 Junior
Swanson is a tremendous guard. She has athleticism and IQ on the floor are impressive to watch. She’s a beast in transition and can clearly be impactful in a high paced offense. She’s well balanced with great footwork to play inside the lane and on the pertimer. She is leading the South conference in scoring averaging 14 points per game. In a game against Monticello, Swanson finished with 17 points. A beast on the boards as well, Swanson is so effective on the offensive glass. She is averaging nearly 10 rebounds per game.
Jorey Buwalda | Randolph | 6’0 Sophomore
Buwalda is certainly a player that coaches and other teams should worry about. She has fantastic athleticism and agility on the floor. Her ability to get up and down at her size should not go unnoticed. Her rebounding is elite- she is averaging 9 rebounds per game and it’s been difficult for other teams in this conference to stop her on the glass. She’s a versatile forward who can also play on the perimeter. She is averaging 16 points per game. In a win over Markesan, Buwalda finished with 25 points for her team. She’s able to knock down the perimeter shot and hit the 15 footer with consistency.
Abi Streeter | Oakfield | 5’8 Senior
Streeter has played some impact minutes for her team this season and been a three level scorer and elite defender. She is averaging 12 points per game. Streeters ability to play inside the lane and from behind the arc is impressive. She has a great feel for the game and is able to get herself open in many ways. She sets hard screens and uses her teammates to find position. She’s shown some improvement in her shot this season and is taking more risks on the pertimer. She’s also shown glimpses of being able to handle the ball at the lead spot and create an offense for her tema. In a game against Winnebago Lutheran, Streeter finished with 19 points.
Jenna Olin | Parkview | 5’4 Junior
The junior is averaging 13.5 points per game. A sniper from behind the arc, Olin does not miss an opportunity to hit the outside shot. She needs little to no space on her shot and can knock it down with consistency. She utilizes the mid-range game well and can finish over length in the lane. In a game against Iowa- Grant, Olin finished with 23 points for Parkview. She’s shown glimpses of elite defense as well and the ability to play high pressure defense the entire length of the floor. She takes great risks on defense and has seen some success with it this season- she is averaging 2.6 steals per game.
Jolie Schouten | Central Wisconsin Christian | 5’6 Senior
Schouten is a tremendous two way guard who is extremely competitive on the floor. She moves well with and without the ball. She can handle it as a lead guard and create for her teammates. She’s comfortable attacking from the perimeter and can knock it down from behind the arc. She is averaging 15 points per game. She has an impressive hesitation dribble that finds her with some crafty floaters inside. In a win over Horicon, Schouten finished with 19 points.
Ally Fredrick | Palmyra- Eagle | 5’4 Senior
Fredrick is an impressive point guard that does well running the offense for this team. She is averaging 13 points per game. She is so impressive handling pressure and can use her dribble moves to create a game for herself. Fredrick utilizes her speed to go coast to coast and push the ball at a high tempo. In a game against Albany, Frederick finished with 22 points. She averages 3 steals per game.
Rylie Collien | Hustisford | 5’8 Junior
Collien has had to step up to a bigger role this season and has shown incredible growth offensively. She is averaging nearly 12 points per game. She is so comfortable on the perimeter this season and doesn’t shy away from attempting the three point shot. She’s been scoring the basketball well. In a win over Montello, Collien finished with 20 points. She’s been a dominant defender this season. She’s averaging 7 rebounds and nearly 4 steals per game.
Gracie Mast | Markesan | 5’7 Senior
The senior is leading her conference in scoring and has been absolutely outstanding offensively this season. She is averaging 19 points per game and has consistently been producing impact numbers for this team. In a win over Montello, Mast finished with 24 points. She can score from inside the lane and does well changing speed when attacking from the perimeter. She’s able to handle the ball and attack as a guard or be a dominant player with her back to the basket if she’s in the lane. She’s effective off the pass or the dribble and has a smooth release to her shot. Her ability to score at the high level that she is and still have impressive shot selection makes her a very special player.
Hope Burns | Lourdes Academy | 5’6 Senior
The senior has been a key leader in her team’s undefeated season. She’s been consistently putting up huge numbers and been extremely versatile in scoring the basketball. She is averaging 13 points per game. Burns continues to become more confident in her three point shot and is seeing some increase in range on the perimeter. She has made over 15 three point baskets this season. Burns is a player to watch out for as she can easily take over at any moment. In a win over North Fond Du Lac, Burns finished with 24 points.
Emerald Konkel | Princeton/Green Lake | 5’8 Senior
The senior is playing a very important role for her team this season. An impressive athlete that scores at all three levels, Konkel continues to get better each time she is on the floor. She has a range of finish moves and doesn’t shy away from creating contact inside the lane. She’s added range to her petimer shot as well and needs little to no room to knock it down- she is lethal off the pass when she has a second to set up her shot. She’s improved her mid-range game as well and been knocking it down with consistency. She is averaging 18 points per game. In a win over Oakfield, Konkel finished with 23 points.
Margaret Higgins | Williams Bay | 5’8 Sophomore
Higgins does an excellent job playing inside and out. She’s been impactful in the lane and proven she can handle her own against taller defenders. She does well cutting in the lane and drawing the foul inside. Higgins is an athletic forward who can step outside and defend on the perimeter in this conference. She is averaging 8 points per game. In a game against Monticello, Higgins finished with 14 points.
Savannah Manthey | Pardeeville | 5’7 Junior
The junior is a complete shooting guard with a smooth release to her shot. She’s patient and poised on the floor. Her basketball IQ is clearly high by the way she moves without the ball and finds her shot within the offense. In the first two games of the season Manthey is averaging 15.5 points per game. She finished with 17 points in a win over Portage. Her stock is rising as she has shown a glimpse of what she can bring to the floor offensively.
