Final: Oregon Elite Gold 58 - New Mexico Clippers 30 Oregon Elite Gold would take on New Mexico Clippers Red on the second day at the 28.5 League Championships in Arizona - hoping to put an exclamation point on their success campaign at the league. They jumped to a 7-2 lead - sparked by a [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"] save out of bounds to [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"] for an easy score. Wilson would find Reardon yet again - this time from the high post. Wilson was quite the facilitator as she found Ericson on the following possession for a triple. Reardon found Wheeler for a triple as this combination would continue throughout the game. [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"] stole the inbound and found herself with a three-point play - the hard way. Reardon found Wheeler for a triple as Oregon Elite led 16-13. [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"] found Katelyn Heideman for a triple. Quirke on the next possession found [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] in the paint. Bishop dove for a loose ball as Heideman converted a nice floater in the paint. Wheeler found Reardon for a triple as they led 29-18 at the half. Ericson would find Wheeler for a triple to start the half. Reardon baseline penetration for a score. [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"] had a tough lay-up in a sea of Clippers defenders. On the following possession Megert stuck a three before the defense was set up. Quirke hand-off to Heideman for a three. Bishop board and bucket. Wheeler steal and find to Reardon for an easy score. Inbound into Wilson who backed her defender down for a nice seal and score. Heideman and Bruegman give and go made it Oregon Elite 50-27. Bishop score followed by Reardon tough lay-up. Wheeler steal and pass to a streaking down the court Reardon. Final score came on a beautiful Wheeler pass to Reardon. Oregon Elite would take this one decisively. Stats: [player_tooltip player_id="207821" first="Gracie" last="Arnold"]: 2 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 2 steals [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"]: 6 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"]: 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal Katelyn Heideman: 8 points, 1 assist, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="158519" first="Sofia" last="Megert"]: 5 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"]: 2 rebounds, 4 assists [player_tooltip player_id="204577" first="Addie" last="Reardon"]: 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"]: 9 points, 4 assists, 5 steals [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"]: 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 steal [player_tooltip player_id="158550" first="Beaux" last="Bruegman"]: 2 points, 1 steal Breakdown: Reardon and Wheeler Addie Reradon and [player_tooltip player_id="204579" first="Carly" last="Wheeler"] have a lot of similarities between their games. Two tough nosed defenders who get started on that end of the ball and translate it into offense. What is even more dangerous for Oregon Elite Gold is that they play well off each other and make plays for one another as an engaged tandem that is double the trouble. They combined for 24 points, 6 assists, and 7 steals as they routinely looked for one another all game long. This duo knows where each other are on the court because of the fact that they are so similar in style. Bishop and Wilson Another terrific two for Oregon Elite Gold are [player_tooltip player_id="158477" first="Emilia" last="Bishop"] and [player_tooltip player_id="158524" first="Lindsey" last="Wilson"]. Both bring a lot of size and discipline at the forward spot for their team as they both are rugged players who rebound exceptionally and score inside the paint. They combined for 14 points and 15 rebounds as they are a huge reason for Oregon Elite Gold’s success in the 28.5 League. Bishop likes to score right on the block and off the offensive boards whereas Wilson likes to patiently gain position before she gets a great look at the basket. With these two on the block, they have created difficulties for their opposition throughout the entirety of 28.5. Other Standouts Katelyn Heideman is a sharpshooter who has an incredibly quick release as well as other ways to score. She sank two from three out alongside the arc as well as an incredible floater in the lane. Megert sank a triple as well as an amazing lay-up in traffic. [player_tooltip player_id="158563" first="Rilyn" last="Quirke"] made her presence known as a team oriented player who is a great facilitator with size and high IQ. [player_tooltip player_id="207821" first="Gracie" last="Arnold"] brought added resilience at the forward spot as a rim protector who is incredibly rugged and physical. [player_tooltip player_id="207817" first="Reese" last="Ericson"] continued to show her cerebral abilities as a floor general who can make plays for others and defend with a high motor as well as scored when her number is called.
