Below is a list of players who had standout performances during the Auburndale Holiday Tournament. These games took place on Monday, December 28 and Tuesday, December 29.
Alexis Freiboth | Mosinee | 5’6 Junior
The junior is a scrappy guard who works extremely hard on both ends. She came into the matchup averaging nearly 14 points per game. She had an incredible tournament offensively and showed elite finishing moves and ability to create a game for herself. She has well developed handles and utilizes the hesitation move well to get herself into the lane. In her second game of the tournament against Auburndale, Freiboth scored a game-high 21 points.
Katie McCabe | Wauwatosa West | 6’0 Senior
The senior is an essential defensive standout for this team. Her presence in the lane is intimidating to other teams and really forces opponents to hit three point shots to beat them. She has a high ceiling for shot blocking as she becomes more confident with her balance and footwork. McCabe is averaging 7 points per game and can be a spark plug for Tosa West. She was held to 6 points against Neillsillve but did fantastic defensively and had a standout performance against Mosinee with 16 points.
Adalyn Lehman | Mosinee | 5’8 Junior
Lehman is a standout role player for Mosinee. She does all the little things right and made some key baskets when her team needed her to. Her feel for the game is obviously strong by the way she finds her teammates open and helps to get them involved. She’s composed on the floor- rarely causing turnovers for her team. In a two point loss against Auburndale, Lehman finished with 10 points.
Amelia Trunkel | Neillsville | 5’8 Sophomore
Trunkel has been so impressive all season long, eyes were on her entering the tournament. She’s been producing huge numbers and has been one of the major reasons why Neillsville is undefeated this season. She had a successful tournament and was able to showcase her offensive skill set and show how versatile she is when scoring the basketball. She’s able to attack the rim but is so talented on the perimeter and knocks down the three point basket with consistency. In the win over Auburndale, Trunkel finished with 11 points.
Annamarie Aue Annamarie Aue 5'10" | PF Auburndale | 2023 WI | Auburndale | 5’9 Sophomore
Aue is a versatile prospect who can step outside and handle the basketball for this team. She’s most comfortable and effective in the lane as she uses her size and strength extremely well. A terrific rebounder, Aue saw a lot of points off put backs. She is an athletic player who thrives in transition play- she got up and down the floor consistently both games. She finished with 13 points against Neillsville and 14 points in a victory against Mosinee.
Kaitlyn Kundinger | Auburndale | 5’10 Senior
The senior has been an effective forward for this team and played some big minutes on both ends of the floor. Her ability to defend is impressive- she plays much taller than she is and constantly keeps her head on a swivel. She can easily put up big numbers any given moment and showed glimpses of versatility as she knocked down jumpers. She came into the game averaging 12 points per game so eyes were on her and she did well still being effective with extra defensive pressure on her. In the win over Mosinee, Kundinger finished with 8 points.
Georgi Schmutzer | Auburndale | 5’10 Senior
Schmutzer has incredible positional size and is a standout two way combo guard. She is averaging 8.6 points per game this season and was able to produce consistent numbers the entire tournament. She scored 9 points in the win over Mosinee. She is so comfortable shooting the basketball and has a smooth, composed release to her shot. She keeps it high and doesn’t need a lot of room to knock it down due to her length over most defenders. She is confident in knocking it down off the dribble but is lethal off the catch.
Annamaria Luna | Wauwatosa West | 5’5 Freshman
The freshman was so impressive in a close game against Neillsville. She is a player to watch and put on a show. She’s a sniper from behind the arc and can knock it down with consistency and confidence. She scored 25 points in the win over Neillsville. She has a scorers mentality and is clearly just scratching the surface for how elite this athlete can be. Her ability to get her teammates involved and score the basketball is an incredible combo- she averaged nearly 3 assists per game.
