The 2021 Class is so deep with college prospects that it may very well go down as the most talented class from top to bottom ever for the state of Arizona. With a class this deep, some players may not have received the exposure and accolades that they would have received in a normal recruiting year. Here are several 2021 players that are definite college prospects at some level.
[player_tooltip player_id="217475" first="Faith" last="Diggs"] (PHH Prep) - Diggs could be the most improved player in the class over the past 12 months. I was impressed with her transformation, as she is now a scoring point guard. Diggs has really worked on her handle, quickness, and ability to distribute the ball. Her overall knowledge of the game has taken a dramatic step in the right direction as well. Diggs would be a nice fit for the right D2 and a steal at other collegiate levels.
[player_tooltip player_id="217499" first="Jayden" last="Leslie"] (Dobson) - We have not seen much of Leslie over the past several months due to the pandemic but she has always been a player that has been trending in the right direction. She has a strong frame, she has good speed & quickness, and she is a multilevel scorer who can make plays at both ends of the floor. Although more of a shooting guard, Leslie has the skill and ability to play back up point guard.
[player_tooltip player_id="136289" first="Elle" last="Walker"] (O’Connor) - Walker is definitely a sleeper in this class. Although smaller in nature, Walker always finds a way to impact the game. She is an excellent shooter, a creative passer and her on the court IQ makes her an intriguing prospect. Walker game is the type that will grow on you after you watch her perform over the course of a season. Although she is available, not sure for how long because some of the college coaches that I a have spoken to absolutely lover her game.
[player_tooltip player_id="136265" first="Shay" last="Figueroa"] (Pinnacle) - Figueroa is one of the best players in this class at taking big shots in close games. Assuming this high school season is a go, there is no 2021 player that is poised to have more of a breakout season more that Figueroa. Pinnacle has been hit hard with top players transferring to Prep Schools, so this is Figueroa’s time to shine. Solid leadership skills, great in game shooter with a deceptive all around game.
[player_tooltip player_id="217476" first="April" last="Tuason"] (Tempe) - Tuason has had a very nice AAU season for 602 Lady Nation. She has demonstrated that she can run a team as well as slide over to the shooting guard position with ease. Tuason is a tough-nosed, gritty, feisty, and somewhat physical guard who can play through contact. Very good at applying effective on the ball defense on the opposing team’s perimeter players.
[player_tooltip player_id="136288" first="Hollie" last="Dalton"] (Prescott) - Dalton is a dynamic combo guard. She has a quick release and is a threat anywhere inside of 25-feet. Dalton can attack the basket a little straight-line, she has a solid frame, and she plays with a good motor. But it’s likely going to be her ability to make shots and to find space without the basketball that will get her recruited the most.
