Below is a list of post players who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these forwards or centers have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of posts in the Central Wisconsin conferences.
Central Wisconsin- East: Amherst, Bonduel, Iola-Scandinavia, Menominee Indian, Shiocton, Weyauwega- Fremont, Wittenberg- Birnamwood.
Central Wisconsin- North: Bowler, Gresham Community, Manawa, Marion, Northland Lutheran, Tigerton
Central Wisconsin- South: Almond- Bancroft, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Rosholt, Tri- County, Wild Rose
Emma Herb | Wittenberg- Birnamwood | 5’8 Junior
The junior is currently leading the Central Wisconsin- East conference in scoring this season. She is averaging nearly 20 points per game and has put on a show offensively each time she’s stepped on the court thus far. Undersized for her position, Herb makes up for height in her lower body strength and high IQ in the lane. She is a rebounding specialist as well and has proven to be able to hold her own against taller defenders. She is averaging nearly 13 rebounds per game. In a win over Abbotsford, Herb finished with 21 rebounds and 24 points for her team.
Kelsie Kreklau | Northland Lutheran | 5’8 Junior
Kreklau is a major part of the success of this Northland Lutheran squad. The offense runs through her and she seems very comfortable playing that role. She’s a confident prospect with incredible movement with and without the basketball. She can attack from the outside but is so impactful when striking through the lane. She is averaging 11 points per game. In a win over Gresham Community, Kreklau finished with a season-high 17 points. A tremendous defender as well, Kreklau can guard almost every spot on the floor. She is currently averaging nearly 6 steals per game.
Brooke Wideman | Amherst | 5’11 Senior
The senior has played some impressive minutes so far this season. She is relentless on the glass and really capitalizes off offensive rebounds. She can get up and down the court effortlessly and does a great job reading the defender. She’s put up pretty consistent numbers to help her team to some fantastic victories this season. In a win over Manawa, Wideman finished with 10 points for her team. She is averaging 9 points per game and has shown she can be comfortable attacking or simply dominating from the block.
Ameilia Jacoby | Paceli | 6’1 Sophomore
The ceiling is high for Jacoby and she is certainly a player that many should keep an eye on. She has exciting vision on the floor and has shown glimpses of being a phenomenal passer. Her movement is already so well developed and she knows how to make effective cuts and screens. She is averaging nearly 6 points and 6 rebounds per game for this team. She’s a player that could easily take off on the offensive end as her confidence continues to rise. High potential for being one of the better shot blockers in her class, she already has over 6 boards in the first four games this season.
Emilie Briquelet | Iola-Scandinavia | 5’11 Junior
Briquelet has proven to be a consistent impact scorer for this team. She is averaging 17 points per game and has so much range offensively. She can score the ball many ways for this team. In a win over Wild Rose, Briquelet finished with 21 points. She’s a hustler on both ends of the floor and seems to be comfortable on the perimeter as well as in the lane. In a win over Tri-County, she finished with 18 points.
Valarie Cerveny | Gresham Community | 5’8 Junior
An undersized forward who can effortlessly score the basketball, Cerveny’s ceiling is incredibly high. She contributes in a number of ways for this Gresham Community team. She is arguably one of the better defenders on this team and can certainly step out and guard a perimeter player. She also doesn’t lack any strength inside the lane and seems to take pride guarding on the block. Cerveny is best going downhill and has seen some major improvement in her jumpers. In an impressive victory over Marion, Cerveny finished with 21 points.
Megan Pierce | Rosholt | 5’11 Senior
Pierce has a very well rounded game and is the primary option for this team. She is averaging nearly 19 points per game and 6 rebounds. She’s been a consistent threat offensively and shown she is dominant off the pass as well as the dribble. She can attack going downhill and remain balanced which is very impressive for someone her height. Pierce has done an excellent job on the perimeter this season and has a smooth but quick release. She does not shy away from knocking down the three point basket. In a win over Menominee Indian, Pierce finished with 27 points for her team.
