Below is a list of players who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these prospects have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the following conference.
Flyway Conference: Laconia, Omro, Mayville, Lomira, North Fond Du Lac, Winnebago Lutheran, St. Mary Springs.
Lexi Smit | Laconia | 5’7 Senior
Smit has led her team to very impressive wins so far this season. She’s a pure spark plug, Smit can take off at any given moment. She showed glimpses of elite athleticism and ability to score the basketball. She is averaging 9 points per game after scoring 15 points in a three point win over Columbus. Smit is an impressive defender as well- she has speed and IQ to defend coast to coast.
Reese Neumann | St. Mary’s Springs | 5’8 Sophomore
The St. Mary’s Springs standout has shown incredible improvement and is definitely a player to watch as the season progresses. She has a high ceiling for success and is only scratching the surface of the athlete Neumann could be. So far this season she is averaging 12 points per game. In a win over Lomira, the sophomore finished with 19 points. She can attack from the outside and hit the perimeter shot off the dribble and the shot. She is a facilitator on the floor as well and finds her teammates on a dime.
Alayna Suprenand | Winnebago Lutheran | 5’8 Senior
The senior is back and playing tremendous minutes after a tough injury last season. She’s thriving offensively and putting up huge numbers for Winnebago Lutheran. She’s a two way athlete who can score the basketball and defend at a very high rate. She has great size as a guard and can handle the ball well as a floor general for this team. She is averaging 16 points per game. In a win over Ripon, Suprenand finished with 25 points.
Reannah Zimmer | Mayville | 6’0 Junior
A dominant post player who is versatile on the floor, Zimmer makes an impact on both ends. Zimmer plays with so much length on the floor- she constantly has her hands up and is consistently deflecting shots and passes. Her presence in the lane is intimidating for other teams. She is averaging 10 points per game. In a win over Campbellsport, Zimmer finished with 19 points and shot 70% from the floor. An impact rebounder as well, the junior averaged nearly 8 rebounds per game.
Alexys Schneider | North Fond Du Lac | 5’9 Senior
Schneider has been a spark plug for this team and been putting up pretty consistent numbers all season long. She’s averaging nearly 8 points per game and 8 rebounds. She’s taken some risks offensively this season and shown glimpses of being comfortable handling the ball and improving her shooting from 15 foot and three. She’s dominant inside the paint and does really well creating her own shot through cutting hard in the lane and sealing on the block. She also does really well in the pick and roll series with her guards.
Lily Derleth | Omro | 5’7 Junior
The junior has improved so much of her game this season and is much more confident on the floor. The stock is rising as her basketball IQ and feel for the game are clearly improving each time she steps on the floor. Her ability to play inside the lane is impressive- she has the confidence and strength to go up against much taller players in this conference. She is averaging nearly 14 points per game for Omro. In a tough game over Winneconne, Derleth finished with 18 points.
