Greater Metro Conference: Stock Rising Guards Below is a list of guards who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these guards have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the following conference. Greater Metro: Germantown, Brookfield Central, Divine Savior Holy Angels, Brookfield East, Sussex Hamilton, Wauwatosa East, Menomonee Falls, Wauwatosa West, West Allis Hale. [player_tooltip player_id="155940" first="Kamorea" last="Arnold"] | Germantown | 5’9 Sophomore Arnold is extremely talented and the number one player in her class but is still adding so much to her game each time she steps on the floor. She is averaging 22 points per game this season and broke the school record for scoring with a 41 point game against DSHA. She’s an athletic guard with loads of potential for the next level. Her explosiveness is one of her best natural attributes, and this helps her play bigger than she really is. She is quick vertically and laterally, so she should blossom into a lockdown perimeter defender that can also challenge players in the lane. She’s put up huge numbers this season and has shown how elite she can be. A play making guard as well, Arnold is averaging nearly 6 assists per game to her teammates. She distributes so well and can find her teammates on a dime when she is being double teamed. [player_tooltip player_id="155772" first="CJ" last="Romero"] | Brookfield Central | 5’3 Senior The senior point guard is playing with fantastic confidence this season and it has been very exciting to see. She’s been an impressive offensive standout for this team and has added multiple crafty finish moves to her bag. Don’t let Romero’s size fool you, she is oftentimes in the lane using her body to finish and create contact. She is averaging 16 points per game for Brookfield Central. In a win over Brookfield East, Romero finished with 21 points. The Northern Michigan recruit has incredible court vision and seems to enjoy getting her teammates involved within the offense. She’s shown glimpses of transition passing that is some of the best I’ve seen in the conference so far. A scrappy player overall, Romero isn’t afraid of the rebounds either. She’s in the lane with the bigs chasing after loose balls. [player_tooltip player_id="156077" first="Annika" last="Pluemer"] | Brookfield East | 5’8 Sophomore Pluemer has been very impressive so far this season and has shown she can contribute at every level for this team. In her first nine games this season the sophomore is averaging 16 points per game. She can score inside and out with range far behind the three point line. In a win over Oconomowoc, Pluemer finished with 24 points. She’s been a defensive powerhouse for East as well, her team counts on her for steals and deflections and she’s been consistently been able to do that. She has over 15 steals already this season. Nicole Ghelfi | Sussex Hamilton | 5’6 Junior The junior is an impact player on both ends for this team. She’s been able to produce consistency on both ends and be a player Sussex Hamilton has counted on for big minutes this season. A floor general who can easily be a spark plug, Ghelfi knows how to create her own shot on the floor. She has precise handles and is patient when creating the offense. She doesn’t force much and has proven to have a smart feel for the game by her movements with the ball and her shot or passing selections. She is averaging nearly 15 points per game. In a win over Wauwatosa West, Ghelfi finished with 18 points. Olivia Close | Wauwatosa East | 5’3 Sophomore The sophomore has been super impressive so far this season. She’s a versatile guard who could easily be a scoring machine each night for East. She utilizes her teammates so well and has shown elite passing into the post. Her eyes are constantly on a swivel and she’s made some incredible no-look passes. She makes the right read. Her transition tempo and passing on a thread is incredible- she works well with standout post player [player_tooltip player_id="132350" first="Chloe" last="Dallas"]. She’s been able to do some things offensively for herself this season and has shown she can create off the dribble or the pass. With being a smaller guard, Close has utilized the pull up jumper and floater so well. She is averaging 14 points per game. In a close game against Menomonee Falls, Close finished with 16 points. Allison Timm | DSHA | 5’10 Freshman The freshman is so talented already with a high ceiling for being a top player in this conference. She can be seen playing the forward position for DSHA but is extremely comfortable handling the ball and has a rising stock as a combo guard/wing position. She has great positional height and ability to use her length to score over defenders. She has one of the smoothest three point shots in this conference and can knock it down with consistency. This season she is averaging 13 points per game. In a win over Brookfield East the freshman finished with 23 points. Taylor Tagliavia | Wauwatosa West | 5’7 Senior The senior is playing a much larger role this season and putting up some impact numbers. She’s an athletic guard who can score from multiple spots on the floor within an offense. She’s relaxed and patient when finding her shot- which has worked well as she doesn’t force anything that isn’t there. This season she is averaging nearly 12 points per game and has been lethal behind the arc. Look for her to try to lead her team to some victories this season as she continues to put up impact numbers. In a game over DSHA, the senior finished with a season-high 18 points.
