Below is a list of forwards and centers who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these posts have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the Lakeland Central, West and East conferences.
Lakeland Central: Clayton, Clear Lake, Northwood, Prairie Farm, Shell Lake, Turtle Lake
Lakeland East: Birchwood, Bruce, Cornell, Flambeau, Lake Holcombe, New Auburn, Winter.
Lakeland West: Frederic, Grantsburg, Luck, Siren, Unity, Webster
Maddie Rosen | Clear Lake | 6’1 Junior
The junior is third in the Lakeland- Central conference for scoring so far this year. A dominant post player who brings so much to the floor, Rosen is a player other teams and coaches should look out for. She’s extremely athletic and gets up and down the floor very well. She’s balanced and shows great movement without the ball. She does very well sealing her opponent and finishing strong against the double team. She is averaging nearly 17 points per game. In a win over Glenwood City, Rosen finished with 21 points. She’s also a fierce rebounder for this team and is averaging 10 boards per game.
Abbie Schradle | Clayton | 5’10 Senior
The senior is going to look to step up to play some big minutes for this Clayton team this season. She’s shown crazy improvement on the offensive end and has added a lot of creativity to her shot making. She also has impressive shot selection and is able to find her shot within the offense very well. Schradle finished with 9 points in a close game against a tough New Auburn team. Schradle is versatile and very strong on the block- she has a high ceiling for offense boards as she knows how to time the rebound and use contact to her advantage.
Sydney Junkans | Prairie Farm | 5’9 Sophomore
The sophomore has been a very important part of this undefeated squad this season. She’s been consistent and poised on the floor- it’s been exciting to watch an undersize forward compete so effectively in a tough conference. In a win over New Auburn, Junkans finished with 10 points. A key rebounder as well, Junkans is averaging nearly 5 rebounds per game. She’s been a defense threat and utilizes her length when she is on the perimeter to deflect passes. She is averaging 2 steals per game.
Sydney Bader | Unity | 5’9 Junior
Bader has put up some impressive numbers on a very talented Unity team this season. On an undefeated squad, the power forward is averaging 9 points per game. She’s a slasher who is very impactful going downhill- Bader has been an impressive option offensively for Unity. She’s a smart player who knows when to seal and when to set screens for her teammates. It’s clear she has a nice feel for the game when she is on the floor. In a win over Turtle Lake, Bader finished with 18 points for her team.
Sierra Swanson | Unity | 5’9 Senior
Swanson has an incredible scoring ability and utilizes her size so well to play inside and outside of the lane. She has handles and ability to play the guard spot as well which makes her very difficult to defend. She’s proven to be very crafty with the ability to create her own shot off the dribble or the pass. Swanson also is confident behind the arc because she can knock down the three point shot with consistency. She is averaging 19 points per game. In a win over Baldwin Woodville, Swanson finished with a season-high 24 points.
