Lutheran St. Charles Tournament (Guards/Wings)

Prep Girls Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top guards/wings from last week’s Lutheran St. Charles Tournament. Lutheran North came away with the championship with a victory over Rolla. Francis Howell Central defeated MICDS in the third place game. Laila Blakeny 5’7" Lutheran North: The 2023 combo guard had a big tournament, which included 16 points in the championship game victory over Rolla. She handled the ball well as she weaved in and out of traffic for buckets while knocking down open 3-pointers. She is also a solid passer and defensive player who was always in the right position to make plays. [player_tooltip player_id="201014" first="Sofia" last="Tweedie"] 5’10" Francis Howell Central: The 2021 wing had a big third-place game as she had 28 points and 11 rebounds in a victory over MICDS. She showcased her excellent range from 3-point range as she is dangerous off the catch. She also moves well without the basketball and gets in good position to rebound. Her defensive instincts were good as well as she had six steals, thanks to her anticipation and good rotations. [player_tooltip player_id="106901" first="Gracie" last="Stugart"] 5’8" Francis Howell Central: The 2021 point guard is a a consummate floor general as she stuffed the stat sheet and kept her team organized. She had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in a third-place victory over MICDS. She puts the ball where it needs to go where her teammates can be most effective. Taleah Dilworth 5’9" Lutheran North: A 2021 guard who is at her best when she is slashing to the basket and operating in the full court. She scored 14 points in the championship game victory over Rolla. She is very good at getting in the lane and she finished well on her drives. Her length also enables her to impact the game on the defensive end. [player_tooltip player_id="107969" first="Carli" last="Libhart"] 5’6" Rolla: An excellent 2022 point guard with solid handles and excellent court vision as she dropped several nice dimes. She is quick and she is always under control as she can penetrate in the lane and make plays on a consistent basis. Cynaa Coleman 5’10" Lutheran North: A versatile 2021 guard who is an excellent ball handler and passer as a point guard. With her height, she is capable of seeing over the defense to deliver pinpoint passes. She can also guard multiple positions on defense with the size and strength to guard the low post and the length and athleticism to defend on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id="201551" first="Zaire" last="Harrell"] 5’9" MICDS: An athletic 2022 combo guard who is an energizer bunny at both ends of the floor. She is a tough on-ball defender who also excels on the full court press with her athleticism and anticipation. On offense, she is always on the attack as she can get downhill to the basket.
