Below is a list of guards who are making noise and proving that their stocks are rising soon into the season. Each of these guards have shown glimpses of how elite they will be the rest of the season and beyond. This list consists of prospects in the following conference. Metro Classic: Martin Luther, Racine Catholic, Kenosha St. Joseph, Dominican, Shoreland Lutheran, St. Thomas More, Racine St. Catherine’s, Catholic Central and The Prairie School.
Jayden Hill | Kenosha St. Joseph | 5’8 Junior
Hill is second in the conference in scoring and has shown major improvement in her first five games this season. Her team overall is doing very well and has only lost one game thus far. Hill is averaging 18 points per game. In a win over St. Thomas More, Hill finished with a season-high 24 points. A floor general for this team as well, Hill has shown tremendous play making ability. Her on court-vision is elite. She is averaging 5 assists per game.
Vanessa Solano | Martin Luther | 5’5 Senior
Solano is a creative lead guard that has been very exciting to watch as she’s added a lot of confidence to her game this season. She’s comfortable with the ball and can easily create a shot for herself within the offense. She is fantastic off the dribble and can find her way through defenders with ease. She is averaging 15 points per game. In three separate occasions this season, Solano dropped 16 points for Martin Luther. A sniper from behind the arc, Solano has added even more range to her three pointer this season. When Solano gets hot on the perimeter it is very hard to stop her. She’s made 30 three point baskets so far this season.
Lindsay Kirby | St. Thomas More | 5’9 Senior
Kirby is a versatile two way athlete who is impacting the game on both ends. She’s a guard who can definitely step inside and play in the lane if her team needs her to. She has the strength and footwork to be dominant in the lane. Her hesitation and attack move work very well for her as well- she is impressive when handling the ball. Kirby is averaging 14 points per game for Kirby. In a game against Kenosha St. Joseph, Kirby finished with 20 points for her team.
Nevaiah Bell- Tenner | Racine Lutheran | 5’8 Junior
Bell- Tenner is an extremely impressive guard with a high upside. She is working alongside the conference’s top post player and thriving on her playmaking and floor general ability. She has over 20 assists in the first three wins for Racine Lutheran. She is averaging 13 points per game and showing a high basketball IQ every time she steps on the court. In a win over The Prairie School, Bell- Tenner finished with 17 points. She can easily be a spark plug for this team and put up huge offensive numbers for Racine Lutheran. She’s an attack guard who has multiple dribble moves in the lane and can knock down the three point shot. A defensive talent as well, Bell- Tenner is essential for this team. She is averaging 3 steals per game.
Sarah Koestler | Shoreland Lutheran | 5’9 Junior
Koestler has been a lead guard for Shoreland Lutheran and put up impact numbers on both ends. She’s a three level scorer who gets the job done for her team. Her instincts on the floor are impressive, she seems to always be in the right space at the right time. She moves well without the ball and understands that using her teammates to get open is crucial to getting a clear shot. She is averaging nearly 13 points per game. In a win over Racine St. Catherines, Koestler finished with 21 points. Look for Koestler to be more of a rebounder as games progress this season as she seems to be taking more risks attacking the lane after a miss.
Abby Decker | The Prairie School | 5’11 Senior
Decker is a super exciting guard that coaches and other teams should be aware of. The ceiling is high for Decker and her skills will translate well to a level beyond high school basketball. She is a highly athletic guard with crazy versatility and balance to her game. Her ability to create her own shot has gotten so much better, and that will serve her well in important games down the stretch. She is averaging nearly 9 points per game for her team. She can knock down the three point shot or attack and score mid range. In a game against Martin Luther, Decker scored 15 points for her team.
