Now, we are just days away from the beginning of action back in the Garden State and there is so much excitement just for games to start above anything else.
Prep Girls Hoops is right in the middle of the action and excitement, giving you the best coverage of the best talent this state has to offer.
This article is the latest continuation of that as PGH takes a closer look at the top guards in South Jersey’s Tri-County Conference, specifically the Liberty Division.
Aaryn Battle Aaryn Battle 5'8" | SF Camden Catholic | 2023 State NJ , Clearview: Battle had just about as good of a freshman season as you could ask for Clearview, averaging just under 11.9 PPG and 7.0 RPG, while nearly averaging one made three a game, 1.4 BPG, 3.2 APG and 2.5 SPG. She is an all-around dominant force on the court and contributes in just about every facet of the game. These are excellent numbers to start a high school career with because Battle is only going to continue to get better over the next three years, starting in her sophomore season in 2021.
Jilonne Daley, Williamstown: Daley was one of Williamstown’s best players in her junior year, averaging 11.7 PPG and was the team’s second-leading scorer. Moving into 2021, the Braves will be relying much more on her, especially her outside shooting as she averaged over one made three a game. She was the team’s best perimeter shooter in 2019/20 and that will continue to be the case come January. Daley has immense talent and she’s going to put it on display even more as a senior.
Olivia Ettore, Kingsway: Ettore, a junior, features both as a guard and a forward, a unique, versatile player who nearly averaged 10.0 PPG last season for the Dragons. While not having much of a sample size in 2019/20, Ettore will be the team’s best outside shooter going into 2021, a position she didn’t have to rely upon much with some senior help last season. That help is gone this season, but that allows Ettore to really add another level to her game as a more active and more efficient three-point shooter. Expect to see much more of that come January.
Ava Divello, Hammonton: Divello comes into her sophomore year at Hammonton with a fantastic opportunity ahead of her as a four-woman senior class graduated last spring and there are some big holes to be filled in the backcourt. She averaged just under 4.8 PPG and 3.8 RPG last season, and those numbers are going to skyrocket in 2021 as she takes on a role as a team leader as a sophomore. Hammonton’s offense wasn’t fully balanced in 2019/20 and it will need to be much more balanced come January and with Divello running the point as a combo guard, she will do just that.
Grace Molinari, Gloucester Tech: Molinari was great as a sophomore for the Jaguars, averaging 12.2 PPG, just under 1.9 made threes a game and 1.7 SPG. GCIT has a strong crop of talent coming back this season and Molinari forms a strong tandem with Faith Rosa as not only the team’s two best scorers, but their two best outside shooters as well. They complement each other really well and will contribute in a big way to the team’s success in 2021, but for Molinari, expect over two made threes a game and somewhere around 15.0 PPG if not more.
