In the COVID-19 2020 world we are living in, video and highlight films have become more and more prominent and important. We will be posting evaluations from the videos weekly. This month, we take a look at some of the new highlight videos that have been sent to us or posted in December.
Cinye B. Jackson (Palmetto HS)
Big, strong guard who can play 1, 2, and 3. She has solid handle and changes speed well. She can knock it down from 3 and she uses her body and strength to finish at the rim. Capable 3 point shooter but prefers the mid range game both off the dribble and off the pass.
2021 Elliana Manzo (Jupiter HS)
Off guard that can shoot the 3 from anywhere on the court. She gets her feet set and has her hands ready from all spots on the floor with a quick catch and shoot release off the pass. She plays hard and follows her own shot well. Decent handle that allows her to be a serviceable point guard if needed but her biggest strength is playing off the ball and shooting off the pass. Plays hard and fearless, big time hustle player and very unselfish always giving ball up to open player. NOTES: Moved to Florida from Wake Forest, NC. Captain & Leading Scorer Junior Year (294 points & 40% from 3 point – 39/99). Coming off ACL surgery March 2020 – was just recently cleared to play.
2022 Alyssa Saavedra (Colonial High School / Orlando Basketball Club)
Big strong guard who has solid handle. She can shoot the 3 but does a great job getting to the rim finishing vs contact, especially off a shot fake. Plays hard on both ends of the floor and has a nose for always being around the ball. She sets the tone for her team on the defensive end and is a good rebounder from the guard spot.
2023 Savannah Arroyo (Cocoa HS / Essence)
Small, feisty guard who is an impact player on both sides of the basketball. Ability to handle and finish both left and right. Solid 3-point shooter with good handle. As a Freshman on varsity level, impacts the game the most on the defensive end pressuring ball handlers, getting in passing lanes and helping turn the other team over through tips, deflections, and steals. She has good court vision and is the ultimate point guard consistently feeding her teammates in scoring positions and making the pass to the open player. NOTES: She was named 1st team All-conference as an 8th and 9th grader.
2023 Rebecca “Zoe” Raine (Calvary Christian Academy / Tampa Thunder)
Big lefty guard / wing who is a scorer. She averaged 13.5 PPG and 4.9 RPG as a Freshman. Really good shooting form and footwork. Is a threat to score or make a play every time she touches the ball. Aggressive offensive player who can knock it down from 3 and plays really well off the shot fake. Does a good job drawing the defense out at her because she is a three point threat and getting to the rim to score or drop pass to her teammates off the shot fake.
