Early Season Small School Stars

The season is moving along and we have enough games played to see some trends. Here’s a look at some of the best small school players in the state so far. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="250268" first="Mikkah" last="Siler"], Williamsburg - </strong>You don’t see many 30 point per game scorers anywhere in Kentucky and even fewer players who average 30 and 10. Siler is having a huge Senior season so far. She’s putting up 30 points and 10 rebounds every night out and living at the free throw line as she’s making more than 8 per game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="250269" first="BreAnna" last="Tincher"], Jackson City - </strong>If you look her up on the KHSAA roster, Tincher is listed as a G, F and C. Fitting because she can do it all. BreAnna is averaging 28 points and 8 rebounds so far in her Junior season and could be well into the 30s if she were more efficient at the free throw line. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="164403" first="Kylee" last="Dennis"], Sayre - </strong>I’ve mentioned Kylee a couple of times so far this season but it is deserved. The guard is one of the top players in Lexington, regardless of class. She leads Sayre in scoring and rebounding and more importantly has led them to a strong start to her Sophomore season as they are 6-1 so far. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="164405" first="Ellie" last="Heid"], Portland Christian - </strong>Heid finds herself as a top 3 scorer in the entire state after the first few weeks of the season. She’s also scoring the ball efficiently. Putting up shooting splits of 44/37/80 with the volume of shots she is taking is very impressive. And she should have some help coming soon once [player_tooltip player_id="164401" first="Kaela" last="Ballard"] gets eligible. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="250278" first="Allison" last="Spieker"], Whitefield Academy - </strong>Despite some Covid pauses, Whitefield is off to a 4-0 start and Spieker is averaging just under 20 points per game. The Lady Wildcats are probably the youngest team in the state and Spieker is only a freshman herself. She’s one to keep tabs on as her game develops the next 4 years.
