Below is a list of players who put up impressive numbers this week in the Junior class.
Nyia Marohl | Ashwaubenon | 6’1 F
Marohl is a dominant post player who commands defensive attention when she is in the game. She has exceptional positional size and knows exactly how to balance her body inside in the lane. She’s an impact rebounder who holds off defenders and uses her athleticism to chase down boards or keep the ball high on offensive rebounds. In her team’s win this week over Green Bay Preble, the senior led her team in scoring with 18 points.
Allie Spaltholz | South Milwaukee | 5’10 W
The South Milwaukee junior is a versatile player with a high upside for the future. She has the height to play inside but is comfortable handling the ball and creating a game for herself. She’s elite in the mid range and has added some consistency to her perimeter shot as well. She has put up consistent numbers for this team and could be a spark plug down the stretch. This week in a win over Sussex Hamilton, Spaltholz finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Leah Lemke Leah Lemke 5'8" | PG Wrightstown | 2022 State WI | Wrightstown | 5’8 G
Lemke is a prolific scorer who puts on a show each time she steps on the floor. This week in a win over Fox Valley Lutheran, the junior scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. She went 2-2 from the three point line in this win as well. Later this week in a win over Luxemburg- Casco, Lemke scored a team high 25 points in the win. She has a quick release and uses a simple but effective hesitation to find herself in the lane. She utilizes the floater and can dribble through multiple defenders and finish strong inside.
Grace Schmidt Grace Schmidt 6'0" | PF Watertown Luther Prep | 2022 State WI | Watertown Luther Prep | 6’1 F
Schmidt is a player with so much upside. She has a tremendous basketball IQ that is ready for the next level. She’s a prolific rebounder and scorer inside the lane. She’s been consistent for this team and a powerhouse inside. She continues to add versatility to her game and has been more confident attempting the perimeter shot this season. In an impressive team win against University School the junior finished with 26 points and 19 rebounds.
Lia Chudzik | Pewaukee | 5’7 G
The Pewaukee junior is scrappy and versatile on the offensive end. She knows how to finish inside and use her teammates to attack the gaps and finish strong in the mid range. She’s a sharp shooter from the perimeter and shot 75% from behind the arc in a victory over Kettle Moraine. She finished the game with 14 points, leading her team in scoring. She had an impact defensive performance as well this week with 4 steals in the win.
Isabelle Coon | St. Mary’s Springs | 5’9 G
Coon has been exciting this season as she’s taken on more of a leadership role this season. She’s a playmaking guard who is constantly putting herself and her teammates in the right position to score the basketball. She has elite on- court vision and ability to find the open pass in transition play. This season she is averaging 3.2 assists per game. This week in a win over Omro, Coon led her team with 14 points and 6 rebounds.
Ava Smith | Onalaska | 5’10 F
Smith is an impressive post player who brings great athleticism and decision making to the floor. She moves well in transition and works well to find the right shot. She scores well within the set offense that her team runs and finishes strong on the glass. Smith is impressive going downhill as she has strength and size to do so. She will shoot the three point shot if left open with a little space as well. This week in a team win over La Crosse Logan, Smith finished the game with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Bridgett Pogodzinski | Abbotsford | 5’4 PG
The junior is a defensive standout who capitalizes on opportunities to deflect and play in the passing lane. She’s a high pressure defender who is high energy and scrappy at all times. A phenomenal athlete who can make a huge impact on either end of the floor. She’s primarily an inside scoring threat as she often attacks the lane and either draws the foul or uses a crafty finish move inside. This week in a win over Northland Pines, Pogodzinski finished with 13 points and 3 steals.
Jordana Reisma Jordana Reisma 6'2" | SF Brown Deer | 2022 State WI | Brown Deer | 6’2 W
Reisma is a versatile prospect with high potential for the future. She has a long and lanky frame that is expandable. She has high potential as a defender- if she can consistently lock down on the pertimer and play with active hands she will be an all around elite prospect. She contests shots well because of her wingspan as well. She has been effective when using her long strides to gain a step on her defender. She’s an offensive rebounding machine and does exceptionally well keeping the ball high and finishing strong at the rim. She’s a key leader on this Brown Deer team who has consistently put up big numbers. This week in a 42-38 victory over Shorewood, Reisma finished with 20 points for her team.
Kylee Doherty | Wisconsin Heights | 5’10 F
In an impressive team win over Belleville this week, Doherty finished with 14 points for Wisconsin Heights. Doherty has a good sense of how to score with her back to the basket- she is patient and comfortable with the ball. Her power dribble into a spin move is very difficult to defend. The junior shows great strength when holding the ball, in large part because she is phenomenal at “chinning” the ball. She does well when receiving contact and can capitalize on the free throw line.
