Continue ReadingOne of the oldest saying that used to irritate me, still does, is “the best thing about freshmen is they become sophomores” and I always think outside the box, basically using my own logic and my comeback is” at every level, you should improve” until you peak so these young ladies have turned it up, some several notches
Dalanna Carter Dalanna Carter 5'6" | PG Barbers Hill | 2023 State #30 Nation TXCarter opened up her career with her new school with a bang, dropping 30, 40 and when I caught her, almost 50 yet as good as I knew she would be when I called her a #D1Lock in elementary school, 3rd or 4th grade, she has kept adding every year and is a legitimate BCS prospect. She creates and attacks by setting defenders up, her first step is one of the best and when you add range, you can understand the numbers she puts up
Amarachi Kimpson Amarachi Kimpson 5'7" | PG Little Elm | 2023 State TXKimpson just captivated me the first time I saw her, even more so when I found out she was playing up yet in young players, I look at certain things, including poise and she was under control and didn’t back down. Over the years, she has shown how good she is under pressure, a half-court shot to win it is floating around on my Instagram page somewhere but she can run a team or just take the game completely over
RyLee Grays RyLee Grays 6'3" | PF The Village School | 2023 State #17 Nation TXGrays with the POWER on the inside as she scores with players literally hanging on her but what I like even more is her hands and footwork have improved and she’s scoring better with both hands yet on the other end, she rebounds with authority, understands how to not only ignite the break with the outlet but run the floor afterward
D’Asia Thomas D’Asia Thomas 6'3" | PF Houston Chrisitian | 2023 State TXThomas is strong and athletic, well long to and she’s gone from a back to the basket player to knock down down the midrange consistently as well as attack the rim multiple ways and finish almost effortlessly after contact. She also has taken her defense outside of the paint and was doing a good job baseline to baseline applying pressure yet more pressure is coming
Kierra Merchant Kierra Merchant 5'10" | CG Westfield | 2023 State TXMerchant is long and athletic, I forgot what team, wait, let me use my search bar, and voila. I love when people say they do what I do, actually, it irritates me but I’m sure defenders are more irritated trying to hold this young lady. She’s long and athletic, elevates on the jumper or attacking the rim, great body control and finisher bur that mid to long-range sets everything up
Monica Marsh-5’4 G (Plano West HS)
Marsh caught my eye almost 4 years ago, here’s the search bar again and I guess what got even better was her range as far as distance. Her speed with the ball in the open court, ability to see the floor while staying under control and throwing pinpoint passes, that’s hard to do yet she also finishes very well, sometimes acrobatically, and brings heat on defense
Victoria Flores-5’8 PG (Pinkston HS)
Flores just amazed me in the 7th grade, search bar yet again because I say it early because I know what I’m talking about, and after a knee injury, she’s even better because one more time, she is poised on the court at all times, doesn’t know the meaning of pressure yet she excels when it’s that time because she can create her shot and drop it from anywhere or hit teammates for gimmes
Tobi Ademuwagun-6’0 (Jordan HS)
Ademwagun is flourishing in her sophomore season, I saw what was coming over the club season as she is one of those “you won’t outwork me” type players. She’s one of the best rebounders in Texas, she understands how to follow the ball when it comes off the rim and not stay cemented in one spot yet she leaves defenders cemented as she attacks the rim with a powerful first step and finishes equally as powerful. Throw in the fact that she’s added the long ball, watch her blow-up
