Miss Basketball Candidate: AJ Ediger

The Miss Basketball award is probably the most prestigious distinction in Michigan high school basketball. The honor has existed since 1981. It has been won by legends such as Kysre Gondrezick, Tabitha Pool, Jordan Walker, Deanna Nolan, and Liz Shrimek. Last year, Detroit Edison’s [player_tooltip player_id="2478" first="Gabrielle" last="Elliott"] claimed the honor. In a condensed season, the Miss Basketball award may be even tougher than normal to determine. It seems like the right time to introduce some realistic candidates for the award this season. Her influence on every game will put her in a position to be considered for the award at the end of the season. <strong>Ediger </strong>is one of the most well rounded stars in the country. She’s incredibly skilled and disciplined in so many facets of the game. <strong>Ediger </strong>is a high IQ player to say the least. She’s a walking double-double in points and rebounds. It’s more of a surprise if she DOESN’T have one than if she does. <strong>Ediger </strong>is bouncy under the rim and competes for every rebound. She gets a lot of second chance buckets and finishes under the rim through contact. <strong>Ediger </strong>uses her jumper, which has 3 point range, to pull her defenders away from the rim and open up the floor. She’s effective in transition as well where she can finish at the rim or hit a kick back jumper. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="27970" first="AJ" last="Ediger"] </strong>would be a very worthy winner of the Miss Basketball honor. She has a laundry list of accolades since she started high school basketball, and this would be a very fitting final one.
