Prep Girls Hoops is here to cover the excitement and find the best talent across the Garden State. That continues in this article as PGH takes a closer look at the top forwards in the White Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference.
Sidney deVoogd – Sophomore, Iselin Kennedy
deVoogd impressed as a freshman for Iselin Kennedy, showing her ability to dominate on the glass, create space for herself in the lane for more scoring opportunities, and be an agile defender and an excellent shot-blocker. She’s already averaging 12.0 PPG & 7.0 RPG as a sophomore through two games, plus 1.0 BPG, so watch her develop into a double-double machine in 2021.
Megan Farrell – Junior, North Brunswick
Farrell is a key part to North Brunswick’s 2-0 start this season, and she returned to the lineup in 2021 as the team’s best shot-blocker and third-best scorer & rebounder. She’s an agile defender, arguably her best x-factor as a player, and is someone who is a reliable scorer and is in the right place at the right time on the block to corral rebounds.
Sabrina Wilson – Senior, Colonia
Colonia has struggled out of the gate this season, going 0-2, but Wilson has been a positive sign to start this season and was stellar as a junior. She can do it all on the court, but the best part of her game is her defense as she stands her ground in the lane well to draw contact and get shot-blocking attempts. Causing traffic in the lane has also contributed to a high amount of steals and fast-break opportunities. Expect a big senior season from Wilson in 2021.
Brianna Harris – Junior, South Plainfield
Harris has had a strong 2021 so far for South Plainfield, averaging 11.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG and has recorded three assists and steals through her first two games. Her sophomore season was a strong one and she returned to the lineup this season as arguably the go-to forward option on the team. She’s a crafty scorer and commands the floor well when she has the ball. When she gets into the lane, good luck trying to stop her.
Reema Azouzi – Senior, Woodbridge
Azouzi, now in her senior season at Woodbridge, is looking to end her high school career with some flare. She’s shown through her first three seasons that she plays without fear and with some physicality thrown in. It’s an impressive combination of strength and finesse that really sets her apart coming into 2021. She’s been relatively quiet so far, averaging 5.0 PPG & 5.5 RPG, but those averages are going to improve greatly over the course of this season for sure.
