Backcourt:
Katelyn Mollica – Foxboro High School – Sr – PG
Stand-Out Game: 18 pts, 9 rebs, 2 asts, 4 stls vs. Oliver Ames
The senior point guard put forth her best effort in trying to lead Foxboro to wins. Her 3 three-pointers in Thursday night’s game all came in the second half as she tried to rally her team and come back to beat Oliver Ames. More of a scoring point guard, Mollica is deadly from the perimeter and uses ball and pump fakes to shake her defender to get off her jump shots. She also is a very effective player on the fastbreak, making a living outrunning the defense for buckets. Mollica is also one of the best rebounding point guards in the league, averaging 8 throughout the course of the week.
Fay Gallery – Canton High School – Jr – SG
Stand-Out Game 22 pts, 3 rebs, 5 stls, 6 three-pointers vs. Sharon High School
Fay Gallery set the gym on fire with 6 threes in a blowout win vs. Sharon. Averaging 20 points in Canton’s 2 wins last week, the junior sniper cemented herself as one of the best shooters in the Hockomock League. Finding holes in Sharon’s zone defense, Gallery showed the ability to knock down long-range shots from various spots on the floor. The combo guard kept the defense off balance by attacking the rim and finishing with either hand.
Frontcourt:
Olivia Quinn – Franklin High School – Jr – SF
Stand-Out Game: 15 pts, 7 rebs, 5 asts, 4 stls vs. King Phillip Regional High School
The combo forward set the tone in the lone game for Franklin this past week. A phenomenal all-around game, Quinn is a wing player you can run your offense through. Using her excellent passing ability, she was able to get her teammates involved on offense in Franklin’s blowout win vs. King Phillip. Her anticipation on defense led to many points in transition. Her 4 steals came off of intercepting passes and pushing the ball up court for easy layups.
Meg Gordon – Attleboro High School – Jr – PF
Stand-Out Game: 24 pts, 12 assists vs. Milford
In my opinion, Meg Gordon has the best combination of size and skill I have seen this season thus far. At 5’11, she can pin a defender deep in the post and go to several post moves like a fadeaway. She can also get the ball at the perimeter, take you off the dribble, and hit 15-foot jump shots. The junior forward is a tremendous athlete and a blur in transition as she showcased that on numerous fastbreak lay-ups and chase down blocks on the defensive end. She has amazing court vision and moves the ball well on offense. A week of domination for the elite playmaker got Attleboro off to a 2-0 start to the season.
Jasmyn Cooper – Oliver Ames High School – Fr – C
Stand-Out Game: 10 rebs, 3 blks vs. Foxboro
The freshmen held her own in the paint in two big wins this week vs. Foxboro High. Cooper is a low post player who does not need to score to impact the game. She is valuable because it gives the perimeter defenders a safety blanket down low when the ball handler gets by them and into the paint. Her defensive efforts played a major part in Foxboro shooting 31% and 28% from the field in both games.
