The junior guard uses change of pace to beat her defenders. Jensen split two defenders with a euro-step for a nice transition bucket, which was her best offensive play of the day. She grasps the importance of varying stride length and using off-beats to create space at her size. She also doesn’t have the greatest vertical ability, yet still manages to track down rebounds by reading the bounce and timing her jump correctly. She led East with 17 points, also racking up 8 rebounds.

Egan is physically strong. It was fun to watch her fight for rebounds. With her body and one arm she would hold off the opponent on the box out, and corral the board with the other arm. She snuck behind the Norfolk defense a handful of times on the baseline, which was great offense for the Chieftains. From there, she aggressively attacked with a jumpstop on a few, and took a dribble to collapse the defense before dishing on several others.

Chainey finished with 2 points, both free throws. She missed her only two field goal attempts. Yet she had impact all over the court. She finished with 5 assists, and several more potential assists. She utilized the wrap-around pass in the lane after faking the shot and getting the defender in the air, resulting in open baskets each time. Her best pass of the day came when she gathered the steal after a team deflection, and threw a baseball outlet pass over two defenders, and dropped it in the bucket to her streaking teammate.
<strong>Lucy Schonlau </strong>2023
Lucy shows uncanny composure and decision-making for a young big. She provides solid rim protection, not because of elite shot-blocking ability or verticality, but that she always leaves her feet at the right time. She did not bite on fakes, and left her feet quickly when the shot did come. She played in control for the full four quarters. She finished with 19 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive), and 3 blocks. She also hit all three of her free-throw attempts, and looked good doing it.
