The Prep Girls Florida Hoops rankings are updated quarterly and this is our first release of the Sophomore class this year. Look for these to updated again in April, June and September. The list of players in the 2023 class that are ranked was dramatically increased based on players we have seen in the past 6-8 months with over 100+ new names. Here are some of the highest ranked newcomers.
# 13 Mjracle Sheppard Mjracle Sheppard 5'8" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) 5’8 Guard
Sheppard relocated to Florida from Washington and has helped lead Montverde to a national ranking. The Sophomore guard has an athletic, slender build and is a dynamic scorer who can put it in the bucket in a variety of ways. She is dangerous in ball screens and most effective shooting the mid-range jump shot and getting to the rim.
# 15 Rhema Collins Rhema Collins 6'2" | SF Webb(TN) | 2023 TN (Schoolhouse Prep / Miami Suns) 6’2 Wing/Forward
Collins is a long, athletic, 6’2 wing/forward. She has a solid jump shot, is very active on the boards, and has the ability to grab a defensive board and go coast to coast in transition handling the ball and getting to the rim. Post players are always coveted in the recruiting process and Collins combination of size, athleticism and versatility will be intriguing to college coaches.
# 21 Mariah Mckenzie Mariah Mckenzie 5'8" | CG American Heritage Plantation | 2023 State FL (Northeast HS / Miami Suns) 5’8 Guard
McKenzie made the move from Cardinal Gibbons to Northeast and has followed up a solid spring/summer with the Miami Suns with several breakout performances for Northeast. She is a big strong guard who can handle the rock and take her defender off the dribble and get to the rim! Her broad shoulders and solid build allow her to take contact and continue penetrating to the rim when getting bumped and finishing vs contact.
# 25 Reina Green Reina Green 5'10" | CG St. Thomas Aquinas | 2023 State FL (St. Thomas Aquinas / Miami Suns) 5’8 Guard
Green might be the class of 2023’s top athlete. She has a strong build, big time hops, can get from baseline to baseline with the ball in her hands in a hurry. Her body looks like a college athlete and she is just a Sophomore. Her potential is through the roof and she keeps getting better every time we see her!
# 26 Rusne Augustinaite Rusne Augustinaite 5'10" | CG Montverde Academy | 2023 State FL (Montverde Academy) 5’10 Guard
Rusne came to Montverde Academy in Florida via Lithuania and brings with her an international flair to her game here in the states. She is a long, skilled guard who has a high basketball IQ, great shooting stroke and a knack for the scoring the basketball. She still has to adjust to the more physical play and stronger bodies in her matchups but she is a unique prospect who can help stretch the floor and has a big upside!
# 31 Sophia Rueppell Sophia Rueppell 5'9" | PG Bishop Kenny | 2023 State FL (DME Academy / East Coast United) 5’7 Guard
Rueppell is a big guard that can do a little bit of everything. The 5’11 wing has helped her squad to a 15-2 record while averaging 11.9 points per game and shooting 40% from the field. The young guard tall build creates problems for defense. She has shown great scoring ability including a 25 point performance vs Grandview Prep in November as well as 22 points in a big win over American Heritage Delray in January.
# 40 Angelina Kohlwaies Angelina Kohlwaies 5'9" | SG Cardinal Newman | 2023 State FL (Cardinal Newman / Wellington Wolves) 5’9 Guard

# 41 Courtney Merritt Courtney Merritt 5'8" | SG West Oaks Academy | 2023 State FL (West Oaks Academy / FBC Nightmares) 5’8 Guard
