Prep Girls Hoops took in the games yesterday from the Sumter Civic Center. The Lady Eagles of Hilton Head Christian were on a mission for a 3-peat in the Class 2A ranks. The Lady Eagles matched up with Palmetto Christian (Mount Pleasant) for the 3rd time this season. The Eagles had to fend off a young group from Palmetto Christian Academy 48-33 to win its 3rd straight SCISA 2A State Championship.
<strong>Great Career Comes to a End: </strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="173105" first="Dior" last="Shelton"]</strong> finished her career with 19 points and a 3rd straight state championship for the Lady Eagles. Shelton concluded her career with the Eagles with a (94-7) record. Shelton was too much in the paint at times for opposing Palmetto Christian squad. Shelton stepped out and knocked down a few elbow jumpers to secure the victory for Head Coach Kenny Conroy. Shelton provided leadership all day long for Hilton Head Christian teammates and never seem rattled.
Shelton scored 1,157 career points for the Lady Eagles. Shelton averaged 13 ppg and 6 rebounds this season. Shelton finished her career as a SCISA Class 2A All-State Selection 3 times.

<strong>Spark off the Bench: </strong>
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="258560" first="Abby" last="Peduzzi"]</strong> finished the game with 11 points off the bench in the win. Peduzzi was big all day long inside the paint. Peduzzi always seemed to be in the right place for a put-back on the glass or just grabbing a loose ball. Peduzzi did most of her damage inside the paint.
<strong>Palmetto Christian Academy Future Looks Very Bright: </strong>

Head Coach Sara Jenkins despite losing yesterday knows she has a very bright future with a very talented roster. [player_tooltip player_id="255966" first="<strong>Yannah" last="Seaberry</strong>"] finished with 18 points while connecting on 5 three pointers. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="255967" first="Cokey" last="Suddeth"]</strong> and<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="258559" first="Annabelle" last="Cox"]</strong> both just 8th graders (2025) will be back with Seaberry (2024). Suddeth 5’8 and Cox 5’10 will team up with Seaberry in the years to come in Mount Pleasant.

The cupboard won’t be bare at all next year for Head Coach Kenny Conroy. The Lady Eagles return plenty in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197052" first="Skylar" last="Smith"],</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197060" first="Devon" last="Yarde"],</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="258560" first="Abby" last="Peduzzi"]</strong> and<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="264973" first="Molly" last="Smith"]</strong> to name just a few.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="197052" first="Skylar" last="Smith"]</strong> who has been bothered by a injury this season came up big today times on her way to scoring 8 points and dishing out 6 assists. Smith spent some of the day on the floor diving for loose balls and making plays for her teammates.<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="264973" first="Molly" last="Smith"]</strong> a left-handed off guard gives the Lady Eagles more perimeter shooting.
Yarde just a freshman matched up with Seaberry from Palmetto Christian several times today. These two players could be the players to watch in the 2024 class moving forward from the SCISA Class 2A ranks. Yarde was able to get the ball to the basket at a good clip today and played with a fearless mindset attacking the rack.
