Akyia Baker (2021) | St. Thomas Aquinas
The Trojans have a new leader in Baker. She has scored at least 24 points in each of the last three games. Baker logged a season-high 26 points against Edison and followed it up with 25 points against South Brunswick in the team’s last game.
Ghelsey Go (2024) | Edison
Go is another freshman off to a hot start this season. She logged a career-high 31 points in a 60-59 victory over Piscataway this season. She is a force on both sides averaging three blocks and 2.5 steals per game. Go has three double-doubles this season including a 14-point, 16-rebound performance in a win over South River.
Kristen Yonker (2021) | Middlesex
Yonker is one of the biggest threats in the conference. She is showing that early on during Middlesex’s 5-1 start. She has three games with 20 or more points including 22 in a season-opening victory over Metuchen.
Niyell McCargo (2023) | North Brunswick
McCargo is looking like the next star in North Brunswick. In the season opener against Woodbridge, she finished with 30 points, eight rebounds, and seven steals. She has scored double-figures in every game and has logged two double-doubles early on.
Taylor Derkack (2024) | Colonia
Derkack is the next star in the GMC and she is showing that early on in her career. The freshman is scoring nearly 17 points per game over her first six career games. This includes 22 points in her last contest against South Plainfield and 20 each against North Brunswick and Paterson Eastside.
Hena Thakkar (2022) | Woodbridge Academy
Woodbridge Academy is 4-1 this season and Thakkar has been the leader. She has totaled three double-doubles and is averaging nearly four steals per contest. She is proving to be a scorer at all three levels of the floor.
Chase Klavon (2021) | Metuchen
Metuchen is off to a 5-1 start and Klavon is a big reason why. She has scored in double-figures in all six games including a 25-point performance in a win over Dunellen.
