Here is a look at some talents who controlled the flow of the game at the point. Lets take a look at some Floor Generals we were able to see this past Saturday in Fort Mill at the Carolina March Madness event.
Tanaja Kennedy Tanaja Kennedy 5'2" | PG Keenan | 2023 State SC – Cardinal Newman HS – A’ja Wilson Elite 2022 – We believe we have written articles in the past on how “Tanaja” translates to “tenacious” as that describes her basketball play to a T. Her skill and talent in handling the ball also translates into how quick she is in getting to the rim. Those pathways to the rim will either be clear or she will be met by defenders, where she draws contact enroute to chances at the free throw line. Kennedy also puts smiles on coaches’ and teammates’ faces with her hustle as she will get to loose balls. She is coming off a season with the Cardinals in which they won a third consecutive 3A SCISA state championship.
Ally Dominiak Ally Dominiak 5'5" | PG Bishop England | 2022 State SC – Bishop England HS – Charleston Swarm – It was not too long ago when we saw Dominiak lead her Bishops team to the 3A state championship game. This past weekend, Dominiak looked like the same Dominiak, displaying plenty of her primary skills – including ball handling and speed – that have made her a household name among Bishops fans. She also continued to display her 3-point shooting prowess that is an integral part of her game. Dominiak will also make things difficult for opponents with the ball as she will match said ball carrier step for step until she attempts a shot, whether it is successful or not. She averaged over 12 points, three rebounds and nearly four steals this past season at Bishop England.
Alayah Birch Alayah Birch 5'9" | CG Northwood Academy | 2024 State SC – Northwood Academy – TMP 16U White – Act II for Alayah Birch Alayah Birch 5'9" | CG Northwood Academy | 2024 State SC at the preps level was as every bit as impressive as act one as she followed up her eighth grade season with a ninth grade campaign that saw Northwood Academy advance to another 3A SCISA state championship. Listed at 5-foot-8, Birch is not only a floor general but also a distributor of the basketball. She will convert on attempts near the rim and also get from one end of the floor to the other with quickness. Birch averaged over 14 points and nearly five rebounds and four steals per game last season.
Rachel Ambroise Rachel Ambroise 5'7" | SG Northwood Academy | 2022 State SC – Northwood Academy – TMP 17U Black – The 17U team of TMP also has a name that should be familiar to many Chargers fans. Listed at 5-foot-7, this year’s travel campaign will serve as a notable bridge between now and a senior campaign where Ambroise hopes to finish her career at the preps level with an exclamation point. Ambroise makes very accurate passes and is a major asset on defense. In 2020-21 with Northwood Academy, she averaged nearly three assists per game in addition to compiling over three steals per contest. With one season left to sport Chargers green, much attention will be given to her.
