This is Part 2 of our look at some of the athletes that had dominating performances in the first day of Districts.
* This is not an all inclusive list. These are just some examples of the great play that happened all over the state last night.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138304" first="Kaliese" last="Christopher"] (2021, SF, East Kentwood) and [player_tooltip player_id="178886" first="Deyonce" last="Thompson"] (2022, SG, East Kentwood)</strong>
East Kentwood had an impressive performance against Thornapple Kellogg, taking home a 69-44 win. Christopher notched a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, Thompson showed a terrific all around game. She scored 17 points, grabbed 7 boards, and had 4 steals.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="138394" first="Maddie" last="Dolenga"] (2021, CG, Rochester Adams)</strong>
Dolenga was as clutch as clutch could be in Rochester Adams win against Romeo. They pulled off a 64-63 overtime thriller, in large part due to Dolenga’s heroics. She tied the game with a shot at the buzzer in regulation. Dolenga wasn’t done yet. She also hit the game winner at the buzzer in overtime.
<strong>Faith Edwards (2023, F, Centreville)</strong>
Edwards helped lead Centreville to a 44-38 win over Marcellus. She finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Her versatility was impressive as she contributed in a variety of ways and filled up the stat sheet.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="175808" first="Alyssa" last="Karner"] (2021, PG, Holland West Ottawa)</strong>
Karner should probably be included in the top 3 nights across the state of Michigan. Her team won by a score of 68-39. Karner dominated the game offensively, scoring 29 points.
<strong>Maddux Overweg (2024, PG, Springport) and Ryann Overweg (2022, SF, Springport)</strong>
The Overweg combination was too much to handle. They led Springport to a 53-42 victory over East Jackson. Maddux stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 5 steals, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Meanwhile, Ryann had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 3 assists.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178862" first="Mia" last="Riley"] (2022, PG, Fowler)</strong>
Riley was lights out in a win against Lansing Christian. She paced her team as a floor general and as a scorer. Riley finished the game with 18 points.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="221754" first="Heaven" last="Rogers"] (2021, PF, North Farmington)</strong>
North Farmington won a tight contest with Livonia Stevenson by a score of 48-47. She had a dominating double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Rogers’ scoring and rebounding were essential in her team picking up the win.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="179079" first="Hannah" last="Schroeder"] (2022, PG, Allendale)</strong>
Schroeder continues to prove that she’s a prospect to watch when it comes to point guards. Her Allendale team earned a 37-26 win over Unity Christian. She was her team’s leading scorer with 11 points. Schroeder continues to improve in bunches as a shooter.
