Scorers typically get all the headlines, but those who can distribute the ball are just as important to the success of a team. I’ve had the luxury of seeing a ton of dynamic playmakers this season, all of whom had a knack for getting their teammates involved on the offensive end.
Last week I posted about the best senior playmakers from the 2020-21 season. So, now I’ll highlight some of the best 2022, 2023, and 2024 passers from the Dallas-Fort Worth area:
Paris Bradley Paris Bradley 5'10" | SF Hebron | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’9” Combo Guard | Hebron HS – Bradley was excellent when it came to putting the ball in the basket herself, and her role as a scorer will likely increase next year. However, the 2024 guard’s facilitating was the best part of her game as a freshman in my opinion. She is such a natural playmaker, making correct reads and accurate passes with regularity in her first season of varsity ball. Her potential as a complete player is through the roof.
Peyton Mosley | 2022 | 5’9” Point Guard | Prosper HS – Mosley is so good at quarterbacking the offense for Prosper. She showed that she can zip accurate passes with both hands and make every pass in the book. The 2022 floor general had success finding teammates in transition, hitting cutters in the half court, and operating as the ball handler in pick-and-roll. Furthermore, her basketball IQ is off the charts. I love her style of play as well as her ability to balance duties as a scorer and distributor.
Kaelyn Hamilton Kaelyn Hamilton 5'10" | SF McKinney North | 2024 State TX | 2024 | 5’10” Small Forward | McKinney North HS – Hamilton was McKinney North’s leading assist-getter as a freshman, accounting for four or more assists in six games this past season. Her athleticism and fondness for pushing the tempo forces defenders to collapse on her, and she subsequently used that to her advantage by creating for her teammates. She is an outstanding playmaker, especially in transition.
Alexis Cortez Alexis Cortez 5'10" | SF Allen | 2023 State TX | 2023 | 5’11” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Allen HS – Cortez is an unselfish playmaker who makes the extra pass. The Allen prospect was surrounded by some skilled bigs and guards, and she was great at finding them in their favorite spots. She will likely have to shoulder more of the scoring load as an upperclassman but will also have more opportunities to drop dimes as a playmaker and primary ball handler. Her numbers could skyrocket next season.
Jules LaMendola Jules LaMendola 5'10" | SF Coppell | 2023 State TX | 2023 | 6’0” Shooting Guard/Small Forward | Coppell HS – LaMendola can see over the defense and deliver passes into the post or out to shooters on the perimeter. The 2023 wing spent a lot of time operating as a point forward for Coppell and looked really good in that role, initiating offense and masterfully completing entry passes to her teammates down low. As an underclassman, her feel for the game was exceptional and should only improve moving forward.
