State Tournament Session 3- Top Performers

Session 3 saw two great Division Two state semis as Napoleon defeated Dayton Carroll 46-43 and Vinton County knocked off Laurel 53-51 and there was plenty of great plays and outstanding performances in the two games. Here are some of the top performers from the University of Dayton Arena today. Loved her pick-and-roll moves, and showed a lot of different weapons. Her excellent ball control and showed a lot of poise in a close game. Defensively she does a great job trapping in the 1-3-1 help side. Plays through contact. Consistent on offense and can get to the charity stripe where she is deadly. Added seven rebounds and five assists. Will head to Cedarville in the fall. Outstanding perimeter scorer and has an ability to get to the rim. Great court vision, attacks the point, high motor kid. Does a great job finding the open player. Scored a team high 18 points with three assists on 7-8 shooting. Smart player who can play through contact and determine the pace of play. Has an unstoppable seal and half-hook score at the rim. Can get to the line, incredible love of the game, with a lot of heart to win. Scored 11 in the semis with 10 boards. Athletic, long with moves to the basket, slithers past defenders. Eyes are always up. Can handle the pressure. Scored 12 points in the state semis today and now plays for a state title. Inherited great basketball jeans as her mother is the schools all-time leading scorer. (pictured right) Ava Lickliter, 5-6 2021, Dayton Carroll Does so much for her team, she is a true floor leader. Can drive and kick the ball out with good control. One thing I like is her ability to recover after a mistake. Very strong going to the basket, slashes well. Great enthusiasm and will be a solid player next season at Wheeling playing for Mike Llanas. Plays calm, and can defend as a strong physical guard. Has a very strong game slashing to the basket and can create. Emma finished with 13 points and has her team in position to compete for a state title. (pictured left)     [player_tooltip player_id="159013" first="Taylor" last="Thierry"], 5-11 2021, Laurel The Ohio State recruit showcased her athleticism in this game. Loved the way she can cut well to the lane and create with the ball. Very versatile on offense, give her an inch and she’s gone. Very strong on the boards and defensively she can alter and block shots in the paint. Finished with a double-double with 15/11. She showed why as she is super athletic with an unbelievable motor. Very good passer with solid court vision. Soft touch and she is difficult to defend on her penetration to the basket. Great body control and comfortable with both her inside and outside game. Finished with 15 points with five boards and four assists. (pictured left)
