Here are the standouts for Session 4 of the OHSAA state tournament. It was the Division One with <strong>Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame defeating Toledo Notre Dame Academy 59-50 and Newark defeating Akron Hoban 41.</strong>
<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="32567" first="Emma" last="Shumate"], 6-1 2021, Newark</span>
The West Virginia signee showed her versatility in this game by scoring both inside and on the perimeter. Emma connected on a pair of threes while also played well around the rim. She added six rebounds and five blocked shots using her long athletic frame to alter shots around the rim. She can guard any position.
<span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong>Abbigail Stephens, 5-10 2021, Akron Hoban</strong></span>
Put together a solid game as she showcased her athleticism well with a variety of moves around the basket, and was strong on the boards. Very good passer and has good court vision. Hard nosed gritty player who was also good north-south. In her game, Abbigail scored six points with three assists.
<span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Maddie Vejsicky, 6-0 2022, Newark</span></strong></span>
One of the most underappreciated players in Ohio as she can do it all on the court. Outstanding perimeter threat and has deep range from anywhere around the arc. Long and athletic frame who can make things happen for her team. Leave her open, she will put the game away. Scored 13 points as Newark defeated Hoban in the semis. Added four rebounds and four assists. Expect to see her vault way up the rankings when they are updated in April.

The top junior in the PGH rankings, KK showed a next level mentality with a complete game. Has great court vision with a knack for the uptempo style of play. Scored 26 points with a pair of threes and eight rebounds. Explosive to the rim and has a solid perimeter game allowing her to be a major threat all over the floor.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="173070" first="Laila" last="Phelia"], 5-10 2021, Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame</span></strong>
The Michigan signee also put on a show for MND as she shot the ball well from inside and out, showed a great ability to attack the basket, good handles and the swag of a winner. She scored 20 points in the win. Exciting to see what she brings to the finals.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="91125" first="Olivia" last="Sims"], 5-9 2021, Toledo Notre Dame Academy</span></strong>
She finished her career with a solid last game, showing her ability to be a good floor general, can score and defend at a high level. Scored eight points in her final game.
<span style="font-family: ’arial black’, sans-serif;"><strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="92512" first="Lanae" last="Riley"], 5-11 2022, Akron Hoban</span></strong></span>
Very physical and difficult to defend in the paint, moves well without the ball and is a strong rebounder. Has good hands and a soft touch around the basket. Does have a nice range to her shot. She scored 19 points in her semifinal loss and had 13 rebounds. Looking forward to having a huge summer with Sports City U as she plays against the top teams in the country.

Can do it all from anywhere on the floor. When she posts up, she is very difficult to defend with a good variety of moves around the basket. Dropped 20 points in the semis with eight rebounds, she showcased her deserving ranking. Will have a big summer with Sports City U.
