Several teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and look to go on a deep playoff run. With the semifinal round officially done in the Tri-County Conferences Bracket A we have a chance to look at which players impressed the most so far in tournament play.
(1) Gloucester Catholic 52 – (4) Clearview 39
Macie Nugent, Gloucester Catholic: The top seeded Gloucester Catholic Rams were able to use a big first half to create enough separation in order to get past a very game Clearview Team. Macie Nugent was the go-to scorer in this one, she ended the game with a game high 19 points and 9 rebounds, getting whatever she wanted down low against a smaller team.
Natalia Barrera, Gloucester Catholic: While the defense had to focus in on Nugent most of the time in this game it allowed Natalia Barrera to fill up the stat sheet too. She ended the night with 15 points and 5 rebounds and found herself getting open looks because of the effort it took to guard the rest of the team.
Payton Foster, Clearview: For the entirety of this game Clearview was playing catchup. Payton Foster did a great job at giving her team extra opportunities by fighting for rebounds, but the team as a whole just wasn’t able to do enough with this chances. Foster ended the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds, proving the sophomore is a player to look out for in the next few years.
(2) Kingsway 28 – (6) Timber Creek 37
Amaya Burch, Timber Creek: Heading into this game Timber Creek was seen as a team that was much better than what their seeding said about the. They proved that against Kingsway behind Amaya Burch’s superstar performance. The junior ended the night with a game high 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, constantly getting to the rim and finding open spots to pull up in the midrange. In the Bracket A final Burch is looking to turn even more heads before she heads into her senior year.
Amiaya Morgan, Timber Creek: While many are looking at the game Burch played it should not go unnoticed that Amiaya Morgan helped her team a ton in this big game. While she only put up 7 points she was constantly looking for contact, trying to get Kingsway into foul trouble. She filled up the stat sheet with a final line of 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and played perfectly next to her superstar teammate.
McKenzie Racobaldo, Kingsway: In a game that was tight until the very end McKenzie Racobaldo kept Kingsway competitive. The junior ended the game with 9 points, showing off her three point prowess and quickness that allows her to beat defenders on the way to the rim. The final result wasn’t what Kingsway wanted but knowing that the team gets Racobaldo for one more year cushions the blow a bit.
