Several teams have separated themselves from the rest of the pack and look to go on a deep playoff run. With the semifinal round officially done in the Tri-County Conferences Bracket B we have a chance to look at which players impressed the most so far in tournament play.
(1) Wildwood 41 – (5) Gloucester Tech 28
Jenna Hans, Wildwood: The reason Wildwood is able to dominate their opponents like they do is because they have a superstar they can go to every night. Jenna Hans once again proved to be the reliable option Wildwood has known throughout her career, dropping 16 points and 11 rebounds in the double digit win. Hans made eight free throws, constantly working down low and forcing the opposition to foul her. On defense Hans chipped in with 5 steals proving she is much more than just an offensive threat.
Imene Fathi, Wildwood: While Hans dominated the scoring column the rest of the Wildwood roster did their best to fill in the gaps. Imene Fathi did a great job of putting herself in positions to succeed, she ended the night with 6 points and 10 rebounds and was always in the right spot to make a play.
Grace Molinari, Gloucester Tech: Even though Gloucester Tech was playing from behind the entire game it always felt like the team was one Grace Molinari hot streak from being right back in the game. On the night the junior finished with 10 points, making two shots from deep and showing how big of a threat she can be from the outside. With one year left in her high school career look for Molinari to take a bigger role on offense next year.
(2) Delsea 53 – (6) Williamstown 59
Iriona Gravely, Williamstown: After a middling season Williamstown has caught fire in tournament play. A huge win against Delsea has sent them to the finals of the Trip-County Conference Bracket B Tournament thanks in part to the play of Iriona Gravely. The freshman stepped up in a big way, leading Williamstown in scoring in this game with 17 points, working down low and making tough baskets against a stout Delsea defense.
Peyton Gilmore, Delsea: Although Delsea couldn’t come out with the win Peyton Gilmore left it all out on the court in an incredible performance. The senior finished the game with a game high 22 points, showing off her supreme IQ by finding open spots on the court to get shots up even with Williamstown keying in on her. Gilmore did everything possible to give Delsea the advantage, her team just could not make enough of a run to end the game.
Cailey Appenzeller, Williamstown: Williamstown was able to get production from everyone in their biggest game of the year to date, which is one of the reasons they came out with the win. Cailey Appenzeller set a season high with 17 points scored in this one, using her quickness to create open spaces where she could get the ball and go up quickly. Williamstown will be coming into the finals of this tournament as underdogs once again, if they can get similar production from Appenzeller in that game they will have a chance.
