2021 Rankings Update: Top Posts

Our run of updated rankings brings us to the class of 2021, and we begin the positional breakdown of this year’s senior class by looking at the top post players.  Close to the end of their high school careers, these players have shown that they have the ability to dominate the inside and do so using a combination of physical traits and skills that they have done plenty to develop. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="88418" first="Marie" last="Kiefer"], Bishop Brossart- </strong>The top player at this position has proven to be the most dominant inside force in the state for a couple of seasons now.  Kiefer has the size to dominate inside complimented by an excellent scoring touch.  She has even added a deep shot to compliment her inside play, making her a truly complete big. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="88425" first="Kelsie" last="Woodard"], Menifee County- </strong>Another player who has a strong inside-out game, Woodard has developed a face-up game and outside shot that should serve her well at the next level.  Her size and skills inside are still what make her a dominant player, dominance that is exemplified by her status as the state’s leading rebounder and one of the state’s most efficient scorers. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="88419" first="Raigan" last="King"], Pineville- </strong>One of the more traditional post players on this list, King has old-school size that lets her bully opposing players inside.  This makes her a tremendous rim defender and rebounder as well as an efficient scorer.  Her scoring touch around the rim deserves particular mention. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="154516" first="Lucy" last="Patterson"], Warren East- </strong>Underrated for much of her career, Patterson has emerged as top post player with an almost 20/10 average in her senior season.  A multi-sport star, Patterson has the athleticism to win-out against larger players, and plenty of physicality to beat smaller players, an excellent combination for an inside player. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="250268" first="Mikkah" last="Siler"], Williamsburg- </strong>Another player having a breakout senior season, Siler is statistically having one of the best years you’ll see from a post player, putting up 26.3 points and 11.2 rebounds per game.  She has done her damage with a mixture of inside scoring moves and strong free-throw shooting when teams are left with no choice but to foul.  As a small-school player, Siler’s dominance is one of the better stories in the state this season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="88444" first="Jayden" last="Crist"], Ryle- </strong>While her game is almost closer to that of a forward, Crist has taken on the post role for one of the state’s top programs in Ryle, and has done so extremely well.  It’s been something of a breakout senior season for Crist, taking on a bigger role for the Lady Raiders and showing her worth.  She has hybrid/multi-positional potential at the next level. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;
