In addition to the exclusive runs, Lozano also hosts an “On the Rise” runs for young freshmen and middle school hoopers to compete and showcase their skills. Here’s a look at some of the “On the Rise” players that stood out to me and that you need to follow.
Kailah Oani- St. Joseph’s 2024
Every time I watch Oani play, she pulls something new out of her bag of tricks. She is a well-composed guard who has the ability to push the ball in transition and slice through traffic. Oani is skilled off the dribble. She can not only get to the rim and finish but can also pull-up and shoot the ball. Oani can shoot from three-point range.
Jadalyn Umali-Claros- Fairmont Prep 2024
Umali-Claros is a solid guard. She has a quick first step that gets her past her defenders and to the rim. She can finish with her right and left hand. She pushes the ball in transition and also runs the lanes well. She is a good three-point shooter.
Audrey Chen- La Salle 2024
Chen is a lefty guard who is a straight-up competitor. She is a composed ball-handler and can slice through traffic to get to the rim. Off the dribble, she can dish the ball well to her open teammates. Chen does have three-point range. She is a player that has a lot of potential and I am excited to see how her game develops.
Jazzy Mercado- Fairmont Prep 2024
Mercado is a fun player to watch. She is very quick and her change of speed allows her to blow by defenders. One of her main strengths is her ability to finish at the rim. She can also lead the break and can run the lanes well in transition. On the defensive end, she gets into the passing lanes and hustles for loose balls.
Lauren Munoz- 2025
Munoz is on the younger side, but she knows how to compete with the older girls. She is a tall and lanky guard who can play and also defend multiple positions on the court. Her height allows her to finish at the rim with ease. One of her strengths is her shooting from behind the arc. She is not afraid to let it loose. She has a lot of room to grow and develop.
