We wrap up our series of positional breakdowns for the class of 2021 by looking at the best lead guards in the class. This list is led by the top overall player in the state, but it has depth to go along with that top-end talent. These players all have the experience and expertise to run an offense and have shown their ability to do so.
[player_tooltip player_id="31846" first="Brooklynn" last="Miles"], Franklin County- The top player in her class for quite a while now, Miles finished a great career with a superb senior season that has her as one of the favorites to win Miss Basketball. There’s not much more to say about Miles, she’s a great player who should excel at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="88422" first="Alexa" last="Smiddy"], Southwestern- While she doesn't fill the state sheet the way Miles does, Smiddy has the ability to run an offense as well as any player in the state. She has great vision and always seems to make the right pass at the right time, and compliments her playmaking with a solid shot.
[player_tooltip player_id="88437" first="Amelia" last="Hodges"], Bethlehem- Part of arguably the state's most loaded team this season, Hodges still stood out as a primary offensive option for the Banshees. While she has the ability to score from all levels, her 3 point shooting was especially impressive, as Hodges knocked down 2.6 deep balls per game at a 37.6% clip.
[player_tooltip player_id="88428" first="Braylee" last="McMath"], Great Crossing- One of the more efficient offensive players on this list, McMath has flashed 50/40/90 ability in the past. As those numbers suggest, she's an excellent shooter and has top-notch shot selection.
[player_tooltip player_id="88426" first="Kelci" last="Blair"], Johnson Central- Perhaps the best defensive player on this list, Blair is a lock-down on-ball defender. Like others on this list, she also does a great job running an offense and has well-balanced scoring ability.
[player_tooltip player_id="31851" first="Hayley" last="Caudill"], Knott County Central- Averaging 18.9 points per game this season, Caudill stands out as one of the better score-first lead guards in the state. She still excels running an offense though, showing the ability to create shots for others as well as herself.
[player_tooltip player_id="154499" first="Natoria" last="Godoy"], Bryan Station- A bit of an undersized player, Godoy doesn’t let her size slow her down thanks to an unceasing motor and high-end speed. This gives her the ability to get inside or lead the fast break where she is comfortable scoring herself or setting up a teammate, exactly what you want from a top point guard.
[player_tooltip player_id="154502" first="Sydney" last="Lockard"], Dixie- Another underrated lead guard, Lockard has excelled in every area, notably as a great scorer from multiple levels. Another of her best traits is her playmaking ability, as she is able to facilitate offense as well as any player in the state.
