Team Outlook:
In its seventh season, We Got Next continues its quick and crafty guard play with a young but talented group of ladies who commit to the defensive side of the floor together. “Our girls have bought in early defensively using a swarming half court defensive to fuel our offense. We demand the basketball defensively; we demand the basketball off a missed shot. Our preparation is the key to any level of success this team can and will experience. Understanding how to prepare yourself for battle is a lost art. We as a program want to instill that especially at the high school level.” ~Coach Roe
Roster/ Key Strengths to Watch:
#2 Iyanna Thompson: 5’6, G, Northmont- One of the fastest guards in the Miami Valley. She is a flat-out athlete that can instinctively find the basketball. Iyanna’s ability to create offense from the defensive end with deflections and rebounds has been and early difference maker in our season thus far. A kid who is playing for something bigger than herself will always stand out. She is continually growing as a student-athlete and young lady who is willing to put in the work to be NEXT!
#24 Lauren Dady: 5’11, PF, Vandalia-Butler- Lauren is a force to be reckoned with. She dominates the paint and clears the glass with strength. As a 2 sport athlete (volleyball), her ability to change someone’s shot in the paint is impressive with her length. Lauren has committed to becoming and elite high school athlete using her athleticism and size. Dady can also step out and guard the perimeter with a solid lateral defensive game. Her versatility will attract a lot of attention down the road.
#3 Alaiya Meaux: 5’5, PG/SG, Xenia- A crafty point guard with a quick first step, her tenacious defense allows her to dictate offense in transition. Finishes well at the rim with contact. Has a varsity level motor.
#4 T’yana Eubanks: 5’4, PG/SG, Springfield- Great ball-handler, growing facilitating point guard who can finish well downhill. One of the most disciplined on ball defenders with the ability to turn ball handlers in the middle of floor.
#10 Alexis Dixon: 5’4, G, Trotwood- Madison- Coming off of an ACL injury, Alexis is winging herself out of her brace and adding agility and strength to her game. Alexis has the potential to be a great positive role player, ball handler, and defending the perimeter.
#12 Clara Von Handorf: 5’8, SF, Kettering Fairmont- Long, lengthy stretch four who can communicate and initiate offense off ball while creating space and opportunity for teammates. Great rebounder and finds her way to the glass.
#15 Alahna Hamilton: 5’7, SF, Columbus Tree of Life- Good sized guard who can shoot from anywhere on the floor. Finishes well at the rim and can guard 1-4 matching physicality with opponent.
#22 Tayler Elliott: 5’9, SF, Xenia- Aggressive, long, wide wing span, can shoot the 3 well and defend all 5 spots on the floor.
#25 KaVonna McGee: 5’10, PF/C, Hilliard Darby- Growing anchor Center, Strong finisher at the rim and paint presence and demands the ball.
#33 Bella Deppen: 5’6, SG, Kettering Fairmont- Tenacious defender can drive the ball middle with confidence. Her ability to get to the free line compliments her game because she isn’t afraid of contact.
#34 Kayla Robinson: 5’7, SG/SF, Springfield- A silent assassin, Kayla is a floor general, from warm-ups to time-outs, she will hit the 3 ball and also consistently hit the 15’ footer. Her aggressiveness and ability to communicate defensively keeps her on the floor.
