Katelin Ngo | 4-1 PG | Texas Cagers Select 2023 | Cinco Rancho High, TX | 2023
I’m just gonna be honest here. When I first read the Texas Cagers roster and saw that they had a 4’1″ player, I thought, “oh that’s cool, they give a smaller player a chance to come off the bench sometimes and get some minutes.” But, no. That isn’t the case at all. Ngo is THE point guard for this team. She runs the show. She should be nicknamed the “Little Floor General.” She is the coach on the floor. A talkative guard who guides her teammates into position verbally and with gestures while handling the ball as deftly as any point guard in the building. She can shoot it, though she doesn’t do it as much as some points. She is quick on both ends, especially on defense where she is an absolute nuisance to the opposing ball-handler. Don’t make the mistake I did and think that she isn’t an integral part of her team and worth taking a look at if you are a coach at the next level.
Alana Webb | 5-5 PG | Dynasty 2023 Blue | Wichita Coleman Middle, KS | 2025
Alana is incredibly fun to watch. She is playing up – clearly – and making it look way too easy. Her handles are absolutely insane. Talk about rocking the baby… she has a rhythm to her movement that is just glorious to see. She dribbles between her legs and behind her back with ease, never in a hurry. It inevitably lulls her opponent into a false sense of security – who knows – maybe it hypnotizes them; either way, she uses her tremendous speed to blow by them and finish. She has very long arms for a 5’5″ player and uses them to finish at the rim through contact. She also has stop and pop ability and moves just as quickly on defense. She is an absolute joy to watch play the game and I have a feeling that over time there are going to be A LOT of college coaches watching.
Addison Mootry Addison Mootry 5'5" | CG Inola | 2024 State OK | 5-6 G | Tulsa JYD 2024 | Inola High, OK | 2024 | @addisonmootry
Addison’s fun-loving, gregarious demeanor belies her absolutely deadly scoring ability on the hardwood. She is talkative and chatty, she smiles almost constantly and then she heads out onto the floor. All of a sudden she is jab-stepping, backing her opponent down, using advanced footwork to literally drop her defender to the ground, then step back and drain the jumper. She can make buckets. Any time she comes up to talk, it isn’t about how things are going with me or to tell me about what she’s doing in school these days. Nope. She always wants to talk about the next opponent. She is a vicious competitor who simply loves winning. Mootry is a flat-out baller and in a very short time she will be a college baller. A very, very good one.
